If it's not a grind fest, I don't mind. The reason I did not play the AC starring tanned pantless Geralt is due to what I heard how grindy the game is.
Level scaling is lazy design.Origins isn't grindy much at all. You can run through most of the main quests and be at the level you need to be at most of the time so you maybe only want/need to do side quests on occasion.
Odyssey on the other hand uhh. I hate level scaling and this game lets you turn it down a bit but I still find my self doing a bunch of side quests just to get stuff to upgrade and if I don't at some point my gear will be to low to get through even the main quests.
I had the same feeling until I bought some of the expansions...primarily the Atlantis thing. I got sick of that pretty quickly, but I spent well over 100 hours on the main game and didn't grow tired of it.Never understood the grind critique of Odyssey, put in over 100h, never a dull moment.
Haven't played an AC DLC since that free Jack the ripper one for Unity. I'm usually perfectly full when I finish an AC game, in a good way.I had the same feeling until I bought some of the expansions...primarily the Atlantis thing. This is exactly how I felt. Got to a point where all the quests seemed the same and I was only like maybe a third of the way through the game. Couldn't take it anymore lol. Just felt like work after a while.Great game but looooooong. Especially since it came out not long after Origins. I got 25 hours in and I'm not even close to the end.
The gameplay is great fun, but it just gets super repetitive after some time. Ubisoft is probably one of my favorite game makers in recent years, but they make their games far too long and repetitive.
The problem is there's little different from the start to the later areas. The enemies just have a higher level, and you need a higher level to beat them. The tactics are still all the same.

Too much potatoing in this thread.
AC is a better series than pretty much anything multiplatform this gen.
So grindr might not be your thing. How many more times can I hide in a bush and stab a guy?
Tons of new preview videos out for this, looks pretty cool to me. I love the setting, going to need to wait for reviews and info on the Series X improvements though with Cyberpunk coming so closely after.
I've grown to love Assasin's Creed. Both Origins and Odyssey felt like I got my money's worth even at Day 1 MSRP. However with Cyberpunk launching so close to it, I can't in good consience pick this up day 1 and devote the time to it that its going to require.
PC Gamer has a preview and says the game is pretty similar to Odyssey except for the open sea stuff (that I think most people hated).
That sounds good, but I don't know if it is day 1 kind of good.
