Official Thread Avowed - Fall 2024

Not crazy about the visuals here, sometimes it looks good other times it looks kind of dated. If you told me this was an ESO expansion I'd believe you, it just depends on the way a specific shot is lit. It may be a great game I don't know much of this devs work, I've only played their south park game and loved that. Visually though this isn't looking very strong IMO.

Wait wut? This is Obsidian bro. If you like RPGs you should have the utmost faith here.

I think it looks great. Not everything has to be hyper realistic.
I’ve never played any of their other RPG’s so hopefully I’ll get hooked on their systems and mechanics too.

This entire week has basically just reiterated something that I’ve been thinking about. The online gaming community is largely a joke stuck in the mire of its own echo chamber. Everybody is so dissatisfied and seeks to suck the joy out of everything.

I didn’t finish it earlier this week, so I don’t know how it ended, but I started watching the KFG live stream of Summer Games Fest, and it was so refreshing how they were just having fun and enjoying games being revealed. I hop online and play with some buddies who are more casual and they just enjoy what is there more.

Man, do I miss when people just had fun and enjoyed games. Little to no complaining about asinine s***, and just damn fun.

I couldn't agree with you more if I tried. Online gaming forums are so naturally negative, hive minded and territorial, it seems like nobody is just having fun anymore or happy to see others having fun.

This definitely looked pretty interesting, probably not gonna be a looker but I've enjoyed most of what these guys have done (didn't get into pillars too much)

The game looks like Outer Worlds art style mixed with Skyrim. I didn't think the graphics looked particularly impressive, but I could see it being very fun.

Not really no. New Vegas was a billion years ago. Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity more recently.

They also did KOTOR 2 way back in the olden times.

Not to mention Alpha Protocol, Tyranny and South Park Stick of Truth,

Obsidian have low key been one of the best buys MS have done recently.

Not low key. Their output under MS has been nothing short of remarkable. Talent was always there, funding was not. They're up there with the best of MS studio including The Coalition, Turn10 and Playground.

1. Casuals don't know any better.

2. You can't expect the same community when the industry has changed so much. Not in good ways either.

Yeah, this game isn't a stunner like FH5 or MFS, and that's ok. I want it to be awesome to play, and it looks like it is.

Goddam how could I forget KOTOR 2 (admittedly super old like NV) and Tyranny.

I'm good. Obsidian has a tighter focus on story and characters than Bethesda so I'm fine with it being smaller in world scale.

Lets go ahead and hush the 4K60 stuff right now. This is how people get dissapointed later by leting their hype and imagination run wild. Lets just all hope for a fun finished game.
