Original Story: The wait for Batman: Arkham Knight was originally going to end in just about a month from now, before the game was delayed to 2015. Today, at a Gamestop conference, the new release date was announced as June 2, 2015.

Rocksteady Studio’s final Batman game, their third, is exclusive to the newest consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (plus a PC release), and includes a much-expanded full-size Gotham City, a playable Batmobile, and a protagonist described as an Anti-Batman.

The new release date puts about three and a half years between the release of Rocksteady’s last game, Batman: Arkham City, and their final chapter (Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel, was released in 2013 by WB Montreal). The new date also puts the game out just two weeks before next year’s E3 expo.

sweeeeet transforming Batmobile is tempting to the big child in me :)

Wow that's far off. Helps my wallet, though.

Let's hope that date sticks. I need more Batman asap. Wouldn't be surprised to see it get pushed back again though. Big games like this rarely get released mid year.

I've seen this before. Delay game, announce a crap ton of dlc...watch dogs anybody? To complete the circle, Warner bros is rumored to be launching their very own drm software to replace steam, just like uplay! Get our your spreadsheets boys, we gotta find which content goes with which version again.

I think they do it on purpose now. They deliberately give out a release date they do not plan to meet as to get us hyped up, and then they announce the delay to tantalize your desires for the game. It's psychology.

Fine with me, between now and March 2015, there are already like 10 games I want to get.

February/March 2015 are especially crowded.

I'm fine with the date although that seems like a long delay from the original October date, have to wonder if it ever really was going to release this year.

I agree, already have The Order, Bloodborne and The Witcher 3 all coming out in that time frame then MK:X in April.

ha, Arkhan Knight is now PS4 exclusive in Japan. first Destiny and now this. don't know what MS Japan is doing.

Pretty much.

It doesn't take much to excite a lot of people. Just announce a game, maybe show a trailer, announce a release date and then some gameplay down the line... Then Ooops, it gets pushed back. Keep the hype up by showing gameplay videos here and there.

They are pretty much using "time" like literally to squeeze the juice out of this monster machine called promoting.

It works. I can see why it would annoy some people while other people would rather get these updates than nothing about a game they are waiting for to come out. Especially if it takes a long while for it to be ready.

As long as Quantum Break, The Division and Rainbow Six make it, I don't care!

The Division....i really doubt that more and more. Raibow Six.....again...it's Ubi. We'll see. It wasn't even at Gamescom, very odd. QB i can see that releasing. Btw you forgot The Witcher 3....but the dev has said there won't be any more delays...so it should be good. Heck they actually promised it.

I thought Japanese do not like 'Western' games? It probably wouldn't take much for the publisher to accept the exclusive offer in Japan, considering the poor sales of X1. But also, you have to wonder why Sony even bother.

2 Lego games will come out on Sony and Nintendo platforms but not on Xbox so it's safe to assume Sony has nothing to do with this.
and "Japanese don't like western games" is basically a myth. some games do well and others don't, it's pretty simple.

Could be that the amount of gamers are too little to be worth the effort in translation to Japanese I reckon.

Its economics if that's the case.

Anyway, out of curiosity, which western game have done well so far in Japan. I just want to have a feel.

GTA has been the biggest. CoD is big now, everybody loves Minecraft. Assassin's Creed is doing well too.
those games sold more than most of JRPGs.
