Q: What are the benefits of My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked?

A: Our Gamers Club Unlocked benefits have been upgraded. As of 11/10 they will be:

Q: How much does the My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked membership cost?

A: Purchasing the membership by itself costs $119.99 for 2-years of membership. But, if you are currently a member, you get these new benefits for as long as your membership lasts. If you are a current member, or have recently allowed your membership to expire (within 6 months of 11/15), be on the lookout for a special coupon to extend your membership for the same great rate you had before -- $30 for an extension for 2 more years on top of your old expiration date. Q: What changes were made to Gamers Club Unlocked?

A: We revised the program to make it even more valuable to our members. The new benefit of getting 20% off new video games (excluding digital) drives unprecedented value to our Unlocked members. To make way for this new benefit, we are discontinuing offering @ Gamer to new members. Current members will receive @ Gamer until their membership expires, or until May 2014.


Q: How do I join Gamers Club Unlocked?

A: While we make improvements to the program, we are not taking any new enrollments; however, it will be available after 11/10. Currently, membership enrollment is available in-store only; please see an in-store specialist for details on becoming a member.


Q: If I am already an Unlocked member, do I still receive the old benefits?

A: Yes, you get all of the great benefits you have come to love. However, you will also get 20% off new video games. Bonus!


Q: Where is my subscription to @Gamer?

A: If you are already an Unlocked member, you will continue to receive @ Gamer through the term of your membership. However, in May of 2014 we will no longer be offering it to members. New Unlocked members will not receive @ Gamer moving forward. The coupons included in your @ Gamer magazine will also be discontinued.


Q: I see my Gamers Club Unlocked membership was extended into next year. Will I receive all of my benefits until my new end date?

A: All of your benefits will be extended until your new expiration date, except @ Gamer.


Q: Once I am a member of Gamers Club Unlocked, is there a limit to how many new video games I can buy with my 20% discount?

A: Yes. Members are limited to 3 copies of any one title (example: 2 copies for PS4, 1 copy for Xbox 360 = 3 total).


Q: Does the 20% off only apply to new games on one console?

A: Nope, it applies to all new video games, including PC (with the exclusion of digital). The more games you buy, the more money you save. Game on.


Q: You’ve run promotions in the past where if you pre-order and purchase certain games at Best Buy you get $10 in reward certificates…Do those offers, and others like it also apply with the 20% discount on new video games?

A: Current offers stack atop one another. That is to say, if you are eligible for reward certificates as a part of a promotion, you will get your 20% savings, and get the reward certificate too. Here’s an example:


Josh pre-ordered Call of Duty: Ghosts for Xbox One, and is therefore eligible for $10 in reward certificates as a My Best Buy member. Josh becomes a Gamers Club Unlocked member before he picks up his copy of Call of Duty Ghosts for Xbox One. Josh gets 20% off his copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts for Xbox One, and will receive $10 in reward certificates for successfully completing the other $10 reward certificate promotion. In this instance, Josh got $22 worth of benefits in one transaction. Not bad for a $60 game.


Q: If I have already pre-ordered games, will the 20% off be applied to those orders?
A: This will depend on whether you placed these pre-orders in-store or through BestBuy.com


  • In-Store:
    If you pre-ordered in-store, you will receive the 20% off benefit as long as you are an active Gamers Club Unlocked member when you pick up your pre-order. You will need to ensure your My Best Buy account is added to the purchase when the game is picked up.
  • BestBuy.com:
    If you pre-ordered on BestBuy.com for either Store Pickup or shipping, we are not able to add this benefit to your existing order. You will need to either cancel and re-do your pre-order or return and repurchase the game once it is fulfilled to get the 20% off. To receive this benefit going forward, you will need to ensure that you are signed in to your BestBuy.com account when you place an order and have your My Best Buy account linked to your BestBuy.com account.
Q: Can the 20% off benefit be combined with a price match?
A: You would receive either the price match or 20% off. You would not be able to receive 20% off of a matched price.


Q: Does the 20% off new video games come as a certificate, gift card, or other back end rebate?

A: You get 20% off immediately when you buy your new games. Other promotions may deliver benefits on the back end, but not your 20% off.


Q: Can I still sign-up for an unpaid Gamers Club membership?

A: Yes, joining Gamers Club is free, and you can do so both in-store and online at MyBestBuy.com.

Hopefully many of you have heard that we’re currently adding some enhancements to our My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked program. You may have even had a chance to take a look at all of the great benefits that the program offers. If you are an active member or member whose membership may have expired since May 1, 2013, we are providing a coupon to allow you to renew your Unlocked membership for an additional two years for just $30. Here’s how it will work.



Starting today, November 7, 2013, emails began to go out to these current and past members that include the coupon mentioned above. These emails will continue to go out over the next couple of days. To help ensure that all qualifying members are able to enjoy these benefits as soon as possible, we have some great news for you. Anyone whose account has expired since May 1, 2013 or does expire prior to February 10, 2014 will have their membership extended to February 10, 2014 at no cost to you. We’ve provided the answers to some questions you may have below.


Q: How will I receive the coupon to extend my Unlocked membership?
A: The $30 coupon will be sent to the email address associated with your My Best Buy account. These will begin to go out within a couple of days via email, however we realize that some of you have opted out of receiving email communication from us. For those customers, we will be mailing this coupon to your physical address associated with your My Best Buy membership. Mailing these out can take some time, so please be patient. Don't worry, though. We've got your back which is why we're extending your membership to get these benefits to you even sooner.


Q: How can I verify my current My Best Buy enrollment status along with the email and address that is attached to my account?
A: All of this can be done by logging in to your My Best Buy account. Once logged in, use the “My Account” drop-down to view your “Manage Profile” page. You should be able to see the email address and physical address attached to your account under “Address & Contact Information” along with your Gamers Club enrollment status beneath that. You may also make any necessary updates to ensure we have the correct information.


Q: When will I be able to use the benefits of the Gamers Club Unlocked program?

Q: When will my account be updated to reflect the February 10, 2014 expiration date?
A: We are currently working to update these eligible accounts within the next few business days to have it completed in time for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launches.
 
Not bad. I've been buying more games at BB since they've had good pre-order deals to get $10 back and double Rewards points on games. Might be worth getting as I easily buy more than 10 games in two years.
 
I always buy my new games from Best Buy and use the Rewards Zone/Gamers Zone.

They give you $10-$15 gift certificates for each select (read: almost all AAA) game you pre-order and buy, plus their rewards points are fairly generous. I don't know of anywhere else, including Amazon where you get such great deals. I know this post sounds like an advertisement, but I've gotten a lot of great deals shopping for/buying games at Best Buy over the last 2 years.

Since I buy more than 5 games a year there, I'll probably do this.

Actually, since it's only $30 for 2 years, I'll definitely be doing this.

Definitely a good deal for people who buy lots of games. Though I doubt amazon is shaking in their boots.
 
No good for me, seeing as 90% of my games are bought on Steam.

Still, even if I were to buy physical copies of games that $120 up front is pretty steep IMO.
 
Not bad at all. Combine the 20% discount with a $10-$15 rebate for pre-orders and you have just about the best deal for newly releases games without using trade-ins. The $30 asking price is a bit steep, so it'll depend on how many games you get in a given year. Although you'll probably end up saving more money after the second game if you stick to games with rebate pre-orders.

No doubt amazon has good deals.

But when you combine $10 preorder gift card with 20% off, plus about $2.50 in reward zone credits for each game purchased, you are looking at about $25 one way or the other when all is said and done.
