my best buy is not doing a midnight
in fact only a few are in my area
so what time do I need to show up for a pre order on release day?
they say 2 hrs. for the midnight, but what about those with no midnight
show up at 8am or??

Good question. They seem to think they'll have all pre-orders covered so you could just waltz in anytime on the 15th and get it but who knows. I think I'll just do the two hours as well and call it good enough.
I believe the proper question is how many people will get held up on their way home for their console?
I think you’re supposed to wait for an email from BB that will tell you when to go pick it up. If you received an email from BB when you preordered all the info is on that.
Yeah this is why midnight launches juat don't seem worth it. Day one delivery from Amazon seems much safer.

I believe you have 8 days to pick the console up. So just go in the next morning when the store opens.
My store is doing one, but I'm not gonna bother going to it. I have to work the next day and you can bet at least someone in Chicago will get robbed at launch night.
This is my thinking though on the store pickup... what if 20 people pre-ordered it with store pickup but they only got 19 consoles in? I'd be interested as to how they send out the emails to those 20 about it being ready? Do they send it to all of them and say first come first serve, or do they send the emails to the first 19 people in the order they pre-ordered the console? Speaking of pre-order dates; on that forum a lot of people claim they pre-ordered the day it was available, June 11th, but I pre-ordered mine online the 10th, which was when it was announced at E3. Hell I had it ordered before the page was even completely up to date.
I do have a PS4 pre-ordered at Amazon as well but I'll roll the dice and know I'll get one from Best Buy at this point so I think I will cancel the Amazon order.

I went to Future shop the day after it went on sale and sales rep told me I was 3rd on the PS4 preorder list.

Personally I feel that if they don't have enough consoles for preorders then then go in the order that they were preordered. Not sure how that would work though.
