Well, this can't be good. I'm not really sure that the sales of the Xbox One not being up to snuff with the PlayStation 4 is a reason to stop selling the Xbox brand. I'm not sure what I really feel. I don't buy much video game related stuff at Best Buy but I know a lot of people have joined their video game club for discounts and such.
RICHFIELD, New Mexico --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Due to weak demand of the Xbox One and dwindling demand of the Xbox 360, its position as the United States's leading provider of consumer electronics products, services and solutions, Best Buy Co., Inc.(NYSE:BBY) - which owns and operates both Best Buy and Future Shop stores - today announced it will no longer stock the Xbox brand of games, consoles or accessories in all Best Buy stores and remaining Future Shop stores globally. "The demand for the Xbox brand as dropped significantly since the launch of the Xbox One. With that, it's in Best Buy's financial interest to stop selling the Xbox brand globally," said Peter Martin, CEO, Best Buy.
"Currently, 80 per cent of our customers prefer the PlayStation platform. This is a significant percentage," said Peter Martin. "We will continue to sell the remaining Xbox brand stock in all of our stores and warehouses. After the stock has been liquidated, we will focus on the PlayStation platform exclusively with a larger footprint 'in-store store,' like we currently have for Apple."
