Xbox One Master Chief Collection bundle, PS4 GTA 5 bundle get Black Friday price cut at Walmart

Walmart published its Black Friday deals this morning, which include 3DS XL, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One bundles. It also includes three separate sales, an online-only component, and two items that are guaranteed to be in the store.

I'm considering finally getting a WiiU to complete the trifecta but am amazed that there is no push by Nintendo to try to compete. The only deals I've seen haven't been much more than some discounted games tossed with a regular price bundle. If I have to wait another year I will.

Black Friday doesn't have the best deals

The monikers Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become linguistic pawns in the retail discount game as stores take "doorbusters" digital and dangle "Black Friday" sales in front of customers weeks before the actual event.

Now, Thanksgiving is officially better than Black Friday when it comes to getting deals, according to a report from Adobe Systems. But shoppers don't even have to wait until then to take home hot products at the cheapest prices.

Black Friday is "more of an idea than a single-day event anymore," says Calvin Silva, lead retail analyst at Nasdaq Advisory Services.

Enter the pre-Black Friday sale. In the never-ending race to stay ahead of the competition, retailers are rolling out deeper discounts earlier. Target, Walmart, Amazon, Kohl's, Toys R Us, Sears and Staples are all planning pre-Black Friday sales, some of which have already started.

Online prices will hit their lowest point on Thanksgiving, with an average discount of 24%, according to Adobe. That beats any other day of the holiday season. Prices will still be an average of 20% off the week leading up to Thanksgiving, and online and in-store prices are generally expected to match, other than with store-specific Black Friday promotions, Adobe says. As online and mobile shopping grows in popularity every year, retailers are trying to compete with the fact that customers can access goods online anytime they want, says Jon Lal, CEO of coupon site BeFrugal.com. Walmart is calling its campaign the "new Black Friday."

Black Friday 2014: Walmart is stretching Black Friday deals over a 5-day period

For mega-retailer Walmart, one day of Black Friday shopping just isn't enough. Neither is two, three or four days, apparently.

Walmart announced this week that Black Friday deals will begin online early on Thanksgiving and extend over a 5-day period into the first week of December.

"Black Friday has become Black Friday week," Duncan Mac Naughton, Walmart's chief merchandising officer, said in the statement. "Our customers want to shop when they want to shop so we're trying to expand the times and product availability with them."

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, the store will make online Black Friday deals available. Then, at 6 p.m., Walmart will offer in-store deals of the usual Black Friday fare -- everything from toys to appliances to electronics.

The stores will hold sales "events" at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday, with more beginning at 6 a.m. Friday.

Hhgregg Black Friday 2014 deals include $299 iPad Air, $60 Toshiba Android tablet doorbusters

Like many other retailers, hhgregg is pushing its Black Friday specials into Thanksgiving, so if you want its doorbusters, you'll need to eat an early (or late) holiday meal as locations will open at 4 p.m. You'll be able to pick up a first-generation 16GB iPad Air for $299 during this time, a price that beats the $319 price Staples is offering. It may also appeal to those you don't want to pay $397 at Walmart with the promise of a $100 store gift card. You can alternately grab an iPad mini 2 (either 16GB or 32GB) at any point over the Black Friday weekend, but you'll only get $20 off, whereas Staples will sell the 16GB version for $239.

The other Thanksgiving tablet doorbuster is the Toshiba Excite Go, a 7-inch Android KitKat 4.4 model powered by an Intel Atom Z3735G processor that's available for just $59.99, or about $40 less than Toshiba is currently selling it for on its own website. Another Android tablet is a doorbuster starting on Black Friday morning at 7 a.m., but the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is available for the same $99.99 price at a number of other retailers without the doorbuster hassle. Other Samsung tablets are also on sale, but they are the same models and pricing as the competition, though hhgregg does stand out for taking $50 off the regular $549.99 price of the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2.

There are also a pair of laptops being sold as Thursday night doorbusters, including another sub-$200 Windows 8.1 laptop in the form of a Toshiba Satellite C55 with Intel Celeron CPU, 2GB of RAM, 500GB, and 15.6-inch display for $199.99. Note that Office Depot/OfficeMax is selling a similar notebook for $40 less, however. The other laptop doorbuster is an Asus Transformer Book 2-in-1 device with a 10.1-inch detachable touchscreen, Atom Z3735F processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD, and Windows 8.1 for $279.99, $50 less than the current price.

Two other laptops in the ad are under $200, though the HP Stream 11 is the same $199.99 price as it is today, and Walmart will offer it with a $25 gift card. Better in theory is the 11.6-inch Samsung Chromebook that is $249.99 on the Samsung website, but is already being sold for $199.99 today at hhgregg. In other words, neither is a deal beyond what you can get right now. If you want a more powerful portable, there's an HP with an AMD A4-5000 processor, 4GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive, and 15.6-inch touchscreen for $379.99 or an HP Envy with a Core i7-4710HQ quad-core chip, 8 gigs of RAM, 750GB hard drive, DVD burner, and 15.6-inch display for $749.99, $150 lower than today's price.

Lastly, hhgregg has deals on a couple of all-in-one PCs, one from Dell and the other from HP. The Dell comes with an Intel Celeron N2830 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and 19.5-inch screen for $299.99, or $50 off the current price, while the HP Pavilion includes the same amount of RAM and hard drive space, but an AMD E2-3800 processor instead of having Intel inside as well as a 23-inch 1080p HD display. The extra screen real estate and resolution bumps the HP's price up to $479.99, though that's $60 lower than what it costs today.

Here's hoping MS Store will have that ridiculous BF sale they had two years ago. Oh man that site got hammered like a MOFO. I remembered picking up like 4 copies of Forizon Horizon for $15 each with free shipping, a game that came out like 3 weeks ago.

GameStop's 2014 Black Friday Deals Have Leaked

Let's take a minute to be grateful for Thanksgiving's annual traditions: turkey, football, and GameStop's Black Friday deals leaking before they're supposed to go live.

This year's deals include a $400 PS4 bundle with GTA V and The Last of Us, games like The Evil Within and Madden 15 for $30 each, and a $330 Xbox One Assassin's Creed bundle that comes with digital versions of Unity and Black Flag.

Amazon's Black Friday blowout starts tomorrow, runs for eight days straight

Amazon always goes big for Black Friday, and this year is no different. In fact, the shopping giant is going so big that it's starting its Black Friday sales tomorrow, a full week before Black Friday actually arrives. The sales will run for eight days straight, with new deals coming as often as every ten minutes. Amazon says it will run three of its Deals of the Day on both Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.
