Black Myth: Wu Kong - 2024

Wukong, also known as the Monkey God, used stuff, not polearm because he is supposed to be a monk. He was from a classic novel call Journey to the West where he was a task to assist his master Monk to the founding place of Buddhism in India to get sacred Buddhist scriptures. In his journey, they met many demons that wanted to kill & eat the master Monk as his fresh grant immortality, which is probably what inspired the game.

There is a historical reason Shaolin Monk used stuff.

When they were traveling, the staff acted as a walking stick. hence it makes sense to train them to use it as a weapon in self-defense when needed.

Anyway for those who like Martial art, this is one of the best staff fighting scenes in the cinema when Jet Li & Donnie Yen (IP Man) were at their peak. Anyway, Jet Li was a Chinese martial art champion which path the way to his action star career.

Yeah. Staffs would be a humble and useful weapon for self defense on the road or something. Quarter staffs do have some historical use on the battlefield as well. Great for a less than lethal approach to self defense though you could obviously still kill with one.

Wow, this game is looking so goooood. It doesn't look to be doing anything new but it does look to be doing everything really, really well. And for the record, no I don't think every game has to doing something new. Games improve upon mechanics that came before it to make new games even better to grow the industry. Its the reason many are pissed at the Patent office granting WB's application to patent the Nemesis System after years of attempts. Sorry, that's a rant for a different thread.

Looks to be PC game play judging by the raytraced reflections being used and at the end of the video showing the Nvidia RTX brand. I am disappointed that this is an Epic games store exclusive. I don't like that platform. I'll have to wait until it hits Steam in the future.

I hope that it's just a next gen only game as well.

Oh wow nice. Haven't seen that scene since I was a kid. These vintage Chinese kung fu movies are such a blast from the past.

This game looks interesting. Always liked the story of the Journey of the West movies and series. Looks right up my alley if it's God of War-esque fighting style.

As a big fan of the "Journey to the West" movies and tv series, this is epic!

I was hoping it would be sooner. I saw clips of this being shown on YouTube for months and never knew the name...because they never had title names for some reason.
