Blizzard Manager Leaves, In Protest Of Employee Ranking System

Seems an odd time to quit when you could have new owners soon.

But yeah, not sure how you can call something an evaluation when it has to meet a certain quota.

Its always like that. Its a f***ing terrible way to run a business but they all do it. You get told how many ratings per category that you are allowed to give out. Much respect to this guy for his principles but his job will be the same.

As bad as it sound, it seems half of information is missing. As in what are the citerias for the lowering/increase score? Is it purely performance or does it include some superficial inmutable characteristic?

I’m sure someone somewhere will write up a piece laying out , or maybe not cos, ya know, NDAs
 
What a way to motivate people. Sounds like that college professor who would only give out X number of A grades, no matter how good people did (usually for some easy intro class).

This is why the gaming and tech industry in general is a total mess. Treat people like crap and get crap results.
 
What a s***show. I miss Blizzard before Activision. And I really hope under Microsoft things improve.
