Your first image is much crisp than what I 720p image upscaled can look like. And resolution is definitely not the only difference. And just look at the sudden change in textures and shading just right in here. The only difference in the screenshots is the resolution. Obviously 1080p will look crisper since it has double the amount of pixels but other than that, everything is the same.

I just can't imagine where a close up shot of COD could warrant any amount of actual discussion. Until we ssee the game playing/looking different while playing. We all know what to expect.Looks good but it doesn't prove that the rest of the game will look like that. Sure it's a single model or two by itself, but it'll be near impossible to keep such detailed character models in a fully rendered interactive environment. This might work in sports games like NBA Live but not in a first person shooter. Is everything else in the game going to look that good? The terrain? The weapon models? Explosions? How much activity can be rendered on screen at once before the engine takes a hit? I sure as hell don't expect such photo realism in an 8 on 8 multiplayer match. Maybe I'm nitpicking here but game companies need to realize that the still image of a single character model does not represent final gameplay. They probably already do realize this. If so, they're taking advantage of their customers' stupidity.
All I can say is watch this around the 2:55 mark or so, it's the best representation I could get running real-time using YT's crappy quality. It looks much better when I was playing on my 60" 1080p TV.
Also the beginning of this trailer:
None of that explains why you posted an image that was clearly rendered at 1080p and not just 720p upscaled. You posted a pre-release screenshot. An in-engine bullshot rendered at full 1080p. The PS3 did not render Beyond at 1080p. The PS3 does not have that kind of power.
Those are all 1080p bullshots. They are pics released by the studio prior to game release for various game news outlets to repost for you to view. Gamersyde received a pack of images on March 21 of 2013 just like all the other news outlets, and everyone can see they are clearly rendered at 1080p native. That's the thing, they're not bullshots, taken in-game. Look at these gamersyde captures.

Then these are from users over at another forum (all captured in-game):

over 10 years 1998....Still using the same 10 year old engine it appears.
lol 98. Damn. Anyways unless this goes back to being like CoD 1 or 2 I'm out.over 10 years 1998....
If it uses the same engine I finally will skip the series until they get with the times....that said that pic looks promising.

Edit: And the ones posted by users are all 720p instead of the 1080p bullshots like the news outlets. There's a reason for that. The news outlets have bullshots rendered at 1080p.
Meh. Unless the WW2 visions is exceptionally unique, I find it hard to get very excited for a WW2 game. Personally, I always wanted an Inception game and I'd love it if Activision was willing to do a CoD: Inception game of some sort. They could pretty much do whatever they want.lol 98. Damn. Anyways unless this goes back to being like CoD 1 or 2 I'm out.
I bet he changes in to dog.
Call of Duty: Werewolf edition
Can't believe what I'm reading. People think this looks good god damn it.
