At this point, I think a huge chunk of the dev team is working to rush out the new game dropping. I think they are rushing out the content and not doing the testing/bugfixes. The game on PC is suddenly crashing again (I haven't crashed since season 1).

They likely should have skipped a year (as was rumored) and just let Treyarch drop something in 2024. I have to imagine they are scrambling to sell something this October.
Let Treyarch do a Blackout 2. Would probably turn out better than WZ2.

$1.2 billion dollars in microtransactions for the quarter. Just something to look at when Youtubers claim that Warzone 2 is dying.

That doesn't mean it isn't dying. That is generated over all their games.

Ironically, they lost 13 million more active users in the last quarter. That is like 60-70 million lost since MW 2019.

People have been leaving the game. I’m sure a lot of casuals stick around.

Yeah, the people who do play must be buying a lot more, which is probably what's going on.

It would be interesting to see if MP or Warzone is losing people. Many seem to think WZ2, but the MP seasons have been very lackluster too. None of the usual streamers seem to put nearly as much time into WZ2 now. That used to be all you'd see on Youtube.

Supposedly they are still all in on a new game this fall, but with zero info, or even who's officially working on it (probably Sledgehammer and a mix of current devs). They are likely holding back content from this game for the new one, which isn't going to go over well.

It gets back to the same problem - we're probably going to buy it to get our FPS fix anyway.

I reinstalled Rainbow Six Siege. Going to give that another go haven’t played it in a couple years.

I always see Siege really high on the Xbox most played games list. It is always right behind the bigger games. so I'm guessing it still has a very strong community. I always enjoyed playing, I just felt like there was so much to learn. The good players know every angle on those maps and it is kind of nuts. Really fun though. The tension of being on defense and hearing footsteps on the floor above is really wild.

I can definitely see myself skipping this year's COD game. I can't see how it isn't going to be a big mess.

Season 9 No GIF by The Office

Vanguard was the first one I legit skipped and never played other than a free weekend. Honestly, I think I've bought every other COD game (back to COD 1).

Taking a break was a good thing. These games are too rage inducing to buy every year. Maybe Treyarch will capture some old Black Ops magic in 2024. I actually liked Cold War better than any of these other games.

I haven't played a CoD since Black Ops until getting this a few days. I just play the campaign and the MP team deathmatch with bots since I hate playing online and having no idea what I'm doing. It reminds me of the fun and simplicity of multiplayer shooters from the early 2000's. Even navigating the menus of the game is confusing and overwhelming for me.

this games UI is some of the worst in COD history.

Yeah the UI is comically bad. I'm not one of those people who complains about stuff like this, but this isn't even functional. The battle pass Ui is horrible. I can't even tell which area I started unlocking. On PC, hitting the Esc key does.... nothing. You have to click something or the back button.

The whole tile interface is just bad. On top of it, there's still tons of bugs behind it. You can fully customize your gun with attachments and all the fancy tuning, save it, and back out. Go back in, and nothing you did is there. Other times, all your tuning just vanishes. It works properly maybe 50% of the time. You get everything working the way you want it, and try to go back and it is just gone.

I'm definitely passing on the new game, unless the open beta absolutely blows me away. I'll find something else to get my FPS fix.

Supposedly in Siege they are cracking down on hardware cheats. If they detect you using one of those illegal mouse and keyboard adapters on console, they'll add a ton of input lag without telling them.

Not sure how successful that will be though, supposedly these companies pretty much skate around the detection with a few changes.

You say this a lot and buy it anyway.

I did skip Vanguard. Only played the free trial. I can't see this new game being anything but a hot mess.

First COD I never bought. Never even grabbed it on sale after.

Sometimes I actually can resist. Not often, but sometimes. Honestly I'm getting too old for these games. If there was no SBMM, I could probably be better than average, but being thrown in the sweat tier and losing a ton of games gets old.

Treyarch's game in 2024 will definitely be something I'll be into.

Isn't about age. Wanting fun over sweaty try hard every second doesn't mean you're too old.

The real problem is AAA studios not putting the huge money behind a game. At any given point, there's 9 studios working on COD (there may be even more).

With the recent BF games, it is clear they don't have the $$$ behind them like COD. I mean, BF V could have been much bigger, but the content was still far too little, far too late. Even their BR game had a ton of potential, but never got any development, so it felt half baked at best.

Just googling, it claims that BF V cost $3 mil to make, while MW2 cost $250. I don't think it is any mystery why BF isn't pushing COD.

I ended up skipping this one. Not sure when if ever I’ll return to CoD. Too much other stuff to play. Sounds like I made the right choice due to the amount of bitching about this.

I can guarantee BF V cost far far more than $3 mill to make, lol. Not saying your overall point is wrong tho.

I’ve been playing more sports games and SP games in the last month. Have been enjoying gaming more, instead of playing COD with friends and getting frustrated/angry all the time lol.

Yeah. Honestly find myself out on MP games as well. Really loving the single player offerings we are getting the past couple years. Haven’t gone balls deep on a CoD or MP game in a while.

I would like to find a coop type game though to play with friends. Do miss the social aspect, but not the competitive frustration aspect much.

I have friends that still play COD, I just get so frustrated with the BS in MP/WZ right now. Any other online shooter I try I just don’t have the time to invest to learn everything get better at the game. When I do online game I’ve just been playing games with my kids and wife like Fortnite no builds mode or COD DMZ recently.

Yeah SP wise there is a lot out there. My backlog is huge. Been just playing whatever I’m in the mood for.

There's just nothing quite like the rush of playing against people. I enjoy a lot of SP games, but it never fills the same need. There's just something about pulling up a pistol when seeing scope glint and headshotting a sniper before they get you.

Both those costs aren't going to be near what they actually were.

$250 million for an arena based shooter. Lol.

Was listening to a weekly podcast and they did an episode on what some have said would be COD killers in recent years. They brought up a good point that is sad and makes you mad at the same time. COD can’t even kill COD! Going into MW2/WZ2 even with the bad design decisions, still having SBMM that makes it if you are average or better at the game you’re constantly going against good players and or cheaters, bugs and glitches galore it still did well. And now even with continued problems, bugs and glitches, SBMM, still up to 100 million players and bringing in billions of $$$$. People need to quit with the whole COD killer thing and it looks like they have no incentive to drastically change things or make changes to please the community because the casuals will keep coming back.

I can only think of 2 games that probably release this year that would even be in the conversation for maybe putting a dent in COD. xDefiant and the Finals. Both of those are arena/hero shooters that aren't even quite the same. Unless I'm missing something obvious, there's nothing to really push the next COD game hard.

Each year I play the open beta and make up my mind. I saw all the flaws going into this game, but I've still put in a ton of time and gotten my $$$ worth. The game could be so much better with some simple changes, but yeah, it is made for the masses, and a few angry Reddit posts and Youtube rants isn't going to change the billions of dollars they make off this game.

I simply don't get my blood pressure up over it, because I know I'm not going to get a billion dollar industry to change because of me. Enjoy the game for what it is, or move on to something else.

I played this game a bit this weekend, all of it in Invasion and I had a lot of fun. I'm going for some camo challenges now that I have every gun leveled up.

The one thing I'm interested in seeing is how no SBMM in casual works for xDefiant. I think that's going to be an interesting test to see what happens with pure connection based MM. I have a funny feeling it isn't going to do what people think. Larger scale games can get away without it (BF) as the larger counts can even out more often, but a small, competitive shooter? I could see that being a hot mess. We'll see though. Maybe it does work.

Season 3 reloaded this week. Warzone 2 ranked is launching, yet the servers are a mess and cheating seems much higher again. COD has always had lag problems, but the servers seem unplayable at times. I was playing Invasion last night and I was getting 7-8 hit markers on people who wouldn't drop. I haven't seen lag like this in a long time.

We're actually getting a 6v6 map, and they are going to add 3v3 to the gunfight maps which might be fun.

This game is such a mess though. I've got enough points for the next season anyway but I feel that will be it for me. I need to find something better to do with my time (Diablo next month).
