Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone - shutting down September

Regarding Xbox crossplay in Warzone, someone mentioned you can just change your Xbox Live Settings to force it to be Xbox only. Don't remember exactly but it might even be a setting about playing with other consoles. Probably worth trying it considering how much hacking seems to be happening courtesy of PC users.

Yeah, in the Privacy settings somewhere there is an option to allow gameplay with external gaming services. If you switch it off though I'm not sure Warzone will work. Worth a test i suppose.

What's weird is that when I turn off crossplay in the regular game (not warzone) I get a completely different game. There's SBMM, but I feel like most people are in my skill group. Nobody really wrecks or gets wrecked too much. Maybe someone has a bad or good game here or there.

With crossplay on though... forget it. I'm now getting stuck into mouse and keyboard lobbies (so now, PC players get a better framerate, POV and control?). Even without PC it always seems like someone just destroys in game.

There's always been something off about crossplay in this game, but it seems worse now. I haven't even played Warzone, still have to give solos a try just for fun.

Don't notice any difference with it on or off in MP or Warzone.

You can only play with people who did the same...Which is nobody.

So I paid for battle pass season 2 but didn't get to complete. I see season 3 is here, have I lost all the tiers of season 2 I wanted to unlock?

Yeah the time gating on it sucks. The problem is that unless you play the crazy small maps over and over, you don't earn any XP.

I actually like the 10v10 more and more now, but going 8-7 in TDM just isn't getting me any progress on my pass.

The best thing I find to do is wait for a 2xp weekend (make sure it includes everything) and then just jump in whatever small map playlist they have. It gets really dumb playing Shipment 8 billion times in a row, but you can knock out pass levels in no time.

The only positive thing is it comes close to paying for itself if you get far enough. It ultimately only costs me a couple bucks to get it in addition to the CP I get along the way.

Don't need to do that at all . Time played is king for BP progression, so play what ever core game mode you prefer. Most people are going to get 1 BP level per 40 minuetes played. XP does play a part but if you are getting 4000 score per game you'll only level up like 10 minutes sooner than a person who gets 2000 score per game.

The BP should take like 60 to 70 hours for the average gamer. 1 hour a day will max you out over the season.

Try playing 10v10 TDM and see how you feel :) No objective score and half the time you are crawling around hard scoping. 4000 XP isn't even possible in that game mode. Nobody is getting more than 15 kills.

I'm really liking the marksman rifles now, but the lack of XP just kills me. I can jump into Shipment domination and easily earn 10x more XP.

Why do you think those small map playlists are so popular?

It isn't because you level BP faster, people like them because they are high action oriented.

I’m starting to get annoyed playing against PC people in Warzone. They really need to make a cross play console only option or XBox only option.

I hate to bring Fortnite up, but fornite making earning extra XP fun and optional.
like XP coins in map that get updated every few weeks. You can consciously looked for them, or just pick them up if you find them. This encourage players to explored more areas of map. But if you dislike, it’s not a big deal. Just losing some extra XP.

or simple things like 1000 shotgun damage or kill 10 enemies with sniper, assist a Teammates. Or you can do challenges that unlock massive XP but also reward with cosmetic, some can be as easy as dance at 3 specific locations., or go to 3 specific locations in a single game. or more interesting but doable ones like hacking a terminal & deliver the info to specific mailboxes.

very few are particularly hard, & can be done reasonably. I plaxed 1.5 season of Gortbite, and pretty much completed all the challenges and unlocked 99% of the cosmetic.

There are optional challenges that reward extra XP , daily, weekly, and officer challenges. You also get cosmetics from the dailies.

After playing this for a few weeks and experimenting with both input options on my PC, I'm convinced controller is the best option for your average player.

Sure if your an aim god with m/kb you will do better but the aim assist on controller is super strong on this game, especially at close range (gulag with a pistol on m/kb is brutal) I think they actually struck a pretty even balance between the two.

Aim assist is very strong in this Game. I noticd this as I switch from PS4 to PC using mouse. Gulag was comfy with controller, but man. with mouse, it’s hard. Same playstyle, completely different outcome.

its a shame, as movement do much better with mouse/keyboard but it’s far easier to shoot with controller.

unless you can do flick shots like pro CS player, it’s just easier to win a 50/50 gunfight with controller.

Situational. At close range, face to face, sure . Longer rangees and reaction engagements are better suited to mouse.

Can anyone confirm you can now play Warzone with cross play off? On the gaming podcast discord a couple people saying you can now play it with it off. If so they must have just recently changed it.

If you’re asking that question you must have never played a MP shooter on console against people on PC it’s not fun.
I think you might be overstating that a bit, the majority of pc players just like the majority of console players, are s***.

I hope they dont add the option to turn it off. If they do the PC version will die, just like Blackout did.

I noticed in the settings you can adjust your aim sensitivity while ADS, both close and long range. Probably known but first I'm seeing of it. Seems to help my aim a bit in ADS to have it lowered a bit. While hip fire I can turn a lot faster, at least when it comes to fine tune aiming it's more controllable.

This is so true. I used to play BF3 on PC with a controller and did no worse than when playing on console. At the end of the day it all comes down to the player.

However, COD has SBMM in mP and supposedly Warzone aswell, So you are fighting similar skilled players, and that means input method can make a big difference.

Yeah I’ve been seeing players do unreal s*** lately in Warzone it has gotten frustrating. Xbox not being able to turn off cross play makes no damn sense.

I did some digging appears you can only turn cross play off on PS4 not on XBox. Da fuq!?
It is funny. I told people on twitter that MS forced crossplay between PC and Xbox. Their poor little minds couldn't grasp that it wasn't an activision, IW decision.

The real problem with mouse and keyboard is the people on console using those Xim adapters. So, now they get the control of a mouse plus the autoaim since the game thinks they are using a controller. That's BS IMHO. These people completely wrecked the Rainbow Six competitive series on console.

I always find mouse better, but I don't think the gap is what it used to be. Still as a console player, I don't want to play against a mouse. I play on console for a reason - mostly standard hardware and a relatively level playing field. Sure, you can buy a custom controller, but you're still using the same thumbs.

The problem in COD is SBMM messes with everything. My guess is it matches better controller players with worse mouse players and it just works. My guess is with little or no SBMM that mouse would wreck controller. I recently moved Rainbow Six to PC only and it is amazing how much better the mouse is, and I've been off mouse and keyboard for decades now. The last time I played a serious mouse and kb game was probably Battlefield 2.
