We all know Ghosts will most likely sell more units, but can BF4 close the margin by a few million?

I'm only talking about XB1 and PS4 units.

Sales for Blops 2: 13M Sales for BF3: 7M

What say Union?

Bf3 sold MUCH more then 7 million :)

Try over 3 x that.

Yes I think bf4 ps4/xbo only sales vs Ghosts xbo/ps4 sales that bf4 has a shot.

Can't find the sales link but a quick Google has the total units at almost 16 mill as of Sep 2013 and ea's biggest franchise.

It definitely has a good chance. Everyday there are more and more COD youtubers with BF4 gameplay from events (sandy ravage, drift0r, tmartn) and the beta. More and more COD youtubers are expressing their waning interest in COD due to IW not actually delivering a next-gen experience and instead once again giving them Modern Warfare 2.5.

I do know Ghosts is done for on PC, the recommended requirements are higher than those for BF4 (BF4 = gtx660, Ghosts = gtx780, lol)

That's 360/PS3/PC though, he's asking bout consoles (XB1/PS4) only for BF4.

Sadly I'd still say COD will sell more units than BF

I think it has a chance.....64 players can be a mess.....but it's 64 players and alot of console gamers haven't had that yet.

The thing is, if it does catch and surpass COD, then it's only a matter of time until people start complaining about BF being too mainstream/whatever like people do now about COD. And then perhaps another game will rise up and become the next BF which could potentially then become the next COD. It's a viscous cycle.

I've kinda heard that already on how the movement is to much like CoD in the beta and how you can kill faster. But i'll be honest...the beta on the 360 has a lot of bugs and the game is so friggen butt ugly I can hardly stand it.....I swear I think BF3 looks better...but it is only a beta.

BF4 won't over take CoD. Come on now.

CoD fans love the CoD formula.

COD's fanbase is just huge. I don't see BF4 surpassing it in sales. I would like to see it but I don't think it will at the moment.
Honestly, I'm surprised there isn't a massive case of burnout on COD.

In college I had friends who literally would play a version of COD like all day every day. Next year, they get next version and do the same thing. I just never understood it; they don't get burned out. I can't even play more than 3-5 matches online before I have to quit for a while.

According to this article, Ghosts is on track to be the most preordered title of the year (more than GTA):

Whether or not that will actually happen, who knows. Regardless, it'll still sell a crapload over all platforms, but I think BF4 can possibly beat it on next gen systems.
Sounds like they might be counting the $10 upgrade as a 2nd copy of the game entirely..not sure if I think that is how it should be.

It is officially a second sale, they're just giving you a similar percentage of trade in credit that used to exist in the original Xbox / PS days (EB games would give you $40 for a traded in game that cost $50 brand new, and turn around and sell it for $45 used). Too bad they got so greedy. Regardless, they can still turn around and sell used copies of the present gen version, and make megabucks off of it with their normal used sales profits, so they're really not losing much of anything.

Honestly, anyone not getting a new system should wait until a week after the launch of the new systems to get any of these trade in games, as they're likely to have used copies galore.

once they see BF4 running in 60FPS, they will drop COD because everybody have said time and time again that they need that framerate.

I don't think the majority of the "sheep" will care about this honestly.

QFT, we must have the same friends?

Nope, can't see it happening...

The problem between BF4 and CoD is BF4 you have to spend more time to get into it. CoD you can drop in....play a few games and then get out. BF4 isn't like that...the games take longer and most of them take some strategy to get the most fun.

Frame rates is going to magically make CoD fans prefer BF. CoD is a completely different kind of game and CoD fans love it.
Also, between both next gen consoles, how many do you think will actually sell by this time next year? A few million I'd say. I'd venture to say that not many will get BF4 on current gen console, and the bulk of gamers won't be on next gen just yet, while Ghost will once again top charts even on current gen consoles.

That's not me defending CoD, just saying, it's a beast in terms of sales and popularity, and I don't see that changing with BF4.

Agreed. CoD is just a different kind of game, and easy at that. 60 fps isn't going to change that. Once some people start playing and see how BF4 requires more skill....they're going to drop it and go right back to CoD. Hell, I suspect many CoD fans won't even bother trying BF4.

I think it'll take more than that. COD and BF have two different play styles. COD is more run and gun, faster style of play, immediate action/gratification. Where as BF has a slower pace, with larger maps, vehicles thrown in the mix and not so much of the instant action all the time of COD.

People didn't complain about Call of Duty just because it sold so well. There were major design limitations present in those games.

Most of what I see is people complaining because it's always the same.
