New footage, sadly every site has the same new video but they give their impressions.

Ahhh, early morning embargo lift huh? I'll have to check these out later, thanks for posting!

I've been following the game for a while, so I know there's more to it than "just another zombie game." Still, it's hard to escape the feeling that it's not all that interesting or innovative. The story may raise it up, although I don't know how strong their storytelling chops are. Syphon Filter wasn't exactly Hamlet.

I'm hoping it turns out to be engaging and enjoyable. It could be. I'm not crossing it off my list entirely, just expressing that my enthusiasm has waned. Like I said, that is probably a reflection of where I'm at psychologically with regard to gaming in general, rather than a reflection on the game itself.

Then you know we only seen 1 Freaker type. And 2. It can be played in many different ways. The motorcycle is important too.

Gotta love the use of "White Male" in such a pejorative manner :( I bet this guy is super tolerant ...

So, getting away from the "I'm totally not a self-hating virtue signaler" train- am I the only one who is missing that really neat, desperate, crowd control intensity that they showed initially? The one with all the awesome, overwhelming tension and crazy physics?

Yeah, what a soy boy.

Another Gruff White Male Protagonist. That would be a good game title.

p.s. New avatar

That's the kind of thing that you can't show too much simply because it all comes off as the same thing IMO, they had a few videos of hordes etc and how you can use them against enemies as well.

As far as the white male thing, that was an idiotic thing for them to even bring up. Some of these game "journalists" must never get away from hanging out with college students or professors or at the very least are never off of social media. The developer is from Oregon, the game takes place in a state where the population is around 85% white and the main character is a biker. I guess he'd have been happier had it been a legless wheelchair bound Asian transsexual who identified as Black and Brazilian with just a touch of Irish so the writer had a backdoor to disliking the character just in case lol.

Not sure how much I like what looks like the completely disconnected story-line structure to the narrative. It looks like you have multiple threads to follow and they don't seem to intertwine with one another which could potentially lead to a disjointed feeling to the story overall. Still very much looking forward to the game overall, but the divide between narrative threads is something I'm not really digging from the outside, have to play it to really know for sure though.

Haven't followed this game at all but most likely will pick it up on Friday. Looks fun enough and I'm not really playing any story games right now.

Here's a nice retrospective of Sony Bend studios and the games they've been involved in. They've successfully tackled a lot of new, ambitious projects. So that gives me hope about this one. I thought it was funny how they considered the world of Days Gone a mirror of what their development process has felt like -- a world that wants to kill you. Hopefully they have survived their own version of the horde.

It’s downloaded for me but I am in Bonaire for 10 days taking in the sun! Will have to wait until I return.

That sounds nice. Enjoy.

I put down a preorder on Days Gone. [edit: nm, I changed my mind and cancelled the preorder. I'll pick it up later.]

I ended up preordering it as well. Some bonuses but probably stuff I won't bother with.

I like the dynamic theme that came with it when I pre-ordered, the music track is nice and the weather changes.

Reviews are out 7 a.m. central time Thursday (about 11 hrs from now).

Early review. Beware, there are some minor story spoilers, depending on your sensitivity. He gives it 8.7. Take that score with a grain of salt, because the review is poorly written, was released before the embargo is up (me first! look at me!), and the site is "Pure Playstation."

Pros
  • Unique zombie apocalypse story where things aren’t as they seem
  • Amazing character type and depth in the conflicted Deacon St. John
  • Gameplay mixed with survival and shooting elements ensures smarts will win in the end
  • Beautiful open world
Cons
  • Gun strafing is clunky and not an effective gameplay strategy
  • Just a few too many, minor technical issues

Rad Brad sounds positive:

Gamespot and IGN apparently gave it a 5 and 6.5, respectively. Ouch!

I was expecting an 8.0, so reviews are coming in lower than I expected. The 72 rating is based on 77 reviews, so it's likely to stay right around that level.

Oh well, at least I don't have to listen to Sunset tell us how right he was.
