This game is going to sell millions.

Alpha testers for the PlayStation 4 version of Destiny have logged 6,461,871 games since things kicked off on June 12. You are all unstoppable, Dreg-killing machines and you are to be commended.

The stats don’t end there, though: apparently so many Guardians “got served” in Dance Parties Bungie would have spent ages trying to tally it up.

Check out more lovely numbers below:

  • 1,195 Deathless Medals awarded in the Crucible
  • 4,356 Splatters with the Sparrow
  • 667,966 Public Events Joined
  • 2,819,211 Orbs of Light Gathered
  • 4,002,737 Heavy Weapon Kills
  • 6,461,871 Player Games Played
  • 6,850,773 Control Points Captured in the Crucible
  • 21,687,298 Super Ability Kills
  • 21,782,610 Secondary Weapon Kills
  • 60,491,944 Fallen Dregs Dispatched with Extreme Prejudice
  • 149,522,313 Primary Weapon Kills
“A lot of our friends asked us if this was a real Alpha,” said community manager David Dague. “It was. We’ve gathered a mountain of data and feedback. We’re learning and reacting and Destiny is going to be better because of it.

“You’ll see the fruits of that labor as early as next month, assuming we’re lucky enough to have you in our Public Beta.”

Bungie recently extended the PS4 Alpha in order to perform some “experiments” with the gameplay, so watch out.

The beta starts on July 17 and the game is out on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in September.

THE ALPHA GOT EXTENDED?!?!?!??!

I FAWKING DELETED THAT SHET ON MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just 2 days it's over now. Think Monday is when they killed it think the alpha was only to be two days but they made it 4 I think but monday it was no longer working.

MW doesn't sugar coat his opinion. I respect that. Even if I disagree sometimes.

But in what ways did it get old? Like too Halo'ish or not enough to do in the Alpha? I didn't get into the Alpha btw.

how many people got into the beta? if it was over a million then playing around six games each isn't a big deal at all. As a matter of fact depending on the number of beta players this may very well be a very sad number.

Honestly, the gameplay just bored me to death after an hour or so. The PvP was atrocious also. It did remind me a bit of Halo MP which is poo.

Also, the game looked mediocre and ran at a weird frame rate. I know it was an alpha, so that stuff should improve. I don't see myself buying it. Ill red box it and see what the final game is like in Sep.

Great game from what I played so far. One of the better multiplayer games this gen behind Titanfall.

yep, what 100+ million potential buyers from last gen alone.

Wouldn't shock me; seems like the hype behind Destiny is actually justified as opposed to that other game that I won't mention even though media was calling it the COD killer, only thing it ended up killing was people's patience. 'Have you seen it' they ask me; 'yes I have and it looks like s***' I tell them.

I was kind of lukewarm on the game before playing the alpha but after playing it I'm really looking forward to this game, I think with the number of platforms it's selling on it'll hit at least 10 million easy. The pre orders for the white PS4 Destiny bundle have been outselling the $399 Xbox One (and any other X1 sku) on Gamestop.com almost the entire time that both have been available.

The only thing I worry about is with all the talk of updates daily they never said how much will be free and paid. This is Activision after all.

As long as I do not need to pay for upgraded weapons/armors.

This game will have legs, unlike all the crap that has been released this year so far.

I agree, even though there are quite a few big games coming out after Destiny I think it'll have strong sales into next year.

I'm curious as to what the sales breakdown will be between platforms. Seeing WD and TR sales breakdown I'm going to go with 1.9:1 PS4 to XBO

Did you even try Destiny or the other game you're taking not so subtle shots at? I ask because it really sounds like you're letting others decide for you.

Played the alpha of one and the beta of the other on PC in addition to the free 48hr trial period. The beta was enough for me to NOT waste $60 on the full game, the 48hr free game time was enough for me to realize my previous aversion was a good call.

Anything else I can help you with?

I think that about covers it. From the wording of your previous post I thought maybe you didn't play either of them but you fixed that assumption.

It's like Borderlands and Halo combined so I could see it selling quite a bit. Alpha didn't do much for me but I will give the beta a try. Suppose it depends on a few factors such as friends that buy it on PS4 and how my backlog looks at the time of release.
