Destiny now available for preload.

It irks me though, that we have to wait three hours to gain access digitally when those who buy retail can start as soon as they get home.

Does it finally work? I posted about this last night and all the links were busted...

Apparently it leaked earlier but wasn't fully up. I'm at work so I can't check on my x1 but when I check via Smartglass, a pre order for destiny appears. It has no price though so I'm guessing it can only be done from the console.

Well this part sucks for EDT users: Game description:XBOX ONE GAME EXPECTED TO RELEASE ON 9/9/2014. YOU MAY DOWNLOAD THE GAME FROM XBOX LIVE BEFORE THEN, BUT IT WILL NOT BE PLAYABLE UNTIL 12:01 AM PDT / 3:01 AM EDT ON THE RELEASE DATE.

Purchased the Guardian edition and selected the manage option to start the download but doesn't seem to be downloading. Will this do it automatically at some point?

Maybe their servers/digital verification takes place in PST?

This is probably good for me - otherwise I would start playing and probably not go to bed until midnight the next day!!

Now I'm wondering if it would be quicker to pick up the game at midnight and then download, perhaps I will be playing sooner. Any thought?

I was gonna cancel my physical pre-order for this, but not now. I have a GS literally 5 mins up the road from me. If I get it at midnight I'll be able to get in an hour or so of gaming before I have to hit the hay for work. If I have to wait till 3am I won't get any in...

I'm off the 9th and 10th and am still pretty ticked about the 3:01AM EDT thing. :p

To say that we’re excited for Destiny would be a bit of an understatement. From the moment developer Bungie’s open world first-person shooter hit Xbox One as a beta, we were hooked. In recent weeks, we’ve broken down the different Destiny character classes, took a closer look at the game’s weapons, and went to the moon for some multiplayer action. Destiny just can’t come soon enough, and we’ve ensured you can hit the ground running on September 9.

We are pleased to announce that Destiny is available for pre-order and pre-download. To celebrate the launch of the game, the following two Destiny game bundles are available for pre-order globally, starting today, through the Xbox Store on the console or online at store.xbox.com:
  • Xbox One Destiny Pre-Order Edition, available starting today for $59.99, including the standard game, plus access to the Vanguard Armory and Emblem pre-order bonus
  • Xbox One Destiny Digital Guardian Edition, available starting today for $89.99, including the standard game, plus access to the Vanguard Armory and Emblem pre-order bonus, an exclusive Ghost Shell, Player Ship, and Player Emblem, and the Destiny Expansion Pass – an online pass for two upcoming Destiny Expansions featuring all new storylines, new cooperative and competitive activities, and new weapons, armor, and gear to earn

Here’s how it works. When a title becomes available for digital pre-order in the Xbox Store, select “Pre-purchase” to buy and download the game. You will be charged the full amount upon transaction and may use any supported payment method, including an existing Microsoft account balance or credit card. The game will download, along with any updates issued before the release date, so the game is up-to-date and ready to play. Then, when the game is officially released to the Xbox Store, timed with local launch availability, simply go to the game in My Games & Apps, go to your pre-pinned tile, or say “Xbox, go to Destiny” to start playing. Titles will be available after midnight local time on the release date in your corresponding country, though some countries with multiple time zones will align to one release time. For example, in the United States, Destiny will be available for play at 12:01 AM PT on its release day.
Similar to other digital downloads, you will need a consistent Internet connection to download a pre-ordered game and your Xbox One will need to be turned on or in connected standby (Instant On) mode. Of course, you can check the download progress at any time in your download queue, My Games & Apps, or on the game details page. And if you have multiple games loading simultaneously, you can prioritize titles, pause, and resume downloads in your queue.
More titles will follow with pre-order and pre-download support in the coming months, so stay tuned. We’ll incorporate fan feedback as we continue to grow our digital offerings with our publishing partners and from our own Microsoft Studios.
To offer fans even more digital content, we also recently shared that digital download codes for select game add-ons and games are now available for purchase at local retailers.

I am gonna switch from Gamestop to XBL Market. You can get the Digital Guardian Edition(game+expansion pass) for $90 with pre order bonus and pre install saving $5 bucks!
That's what I did. I had the digital version pre-ordered at Gamestop, it was $66 and wouldn't be available for download until 10am 9/9. Now I got it for $60, and can start playing at 3am 9/9.

Well, I already had a thread about this being its the first game to offer pre load, but the [HASHTAG]#mods[/HASHTAG] moved it into the general destiny thread.

When is Xbox One getting the expansion? Because last time I checked the Playstation exclusivity was very ambiguous and it wasn't directly stating that the expansion packs are part of the exclusive deal.

I think I read somewhere that the first expansion will release in December.

If the release date is (nearly) simultaneous, I think I'll go with LE.
I considered getting the digital Guardian bundle, it comes with the season pass, but thought I would wait. I would like to see exactly how much depth Destiny has before I spend any more money on it. Going by the recent videos Ive seen there are only six separate places(Earth, Mars, Venus, The Reef, The Moon, and The Tower). There could be more though. Those are just what Ive seen on the map screen.

Good to see high profile games get this treatment. Though I'm probably going to rent this only. Hoping Forza Horizon 2 gets the same treatment.

This may be a very silly question..... but if I were to go ahead and buy the digital version and pre-download it, will it also go ahead and download the "day one" patch that all games seem to have? Or will I still be greeted by an update before I'll be able to play?

Pre ordered last night and was given the option to download it right. My fried who I do the family share with was allowed download it as well. Pretty slick. 18 gigs. Not to bad in size. Roll on 9th September

I don't usually do it anymore, but I'm thinking of grabbing the Guardian Edition. Anyone else?
