Its not fair for you to maintain this and fund it as well. Is there a way to send you money to help out with the server costs?

On a serious note, yeah, I don't mind helping out the donations (whether it's $5, $10 or whatever) to keep things up and running.

Plainview, maybe you can set a monthly goal of how much we need to raise to keep up with server expenses?
 
We're good for a while. Thanks for the offers guys. If we get too many users and have to go dedicated, then we'll think about it. Right now, we're good for a year. But I really do appreciate it.

You might have to go VPS or dedicated sooner than you might think unless the amount of active members don't grow by that much. Over 1,000 posts already in less than a day. I can't imagine how huge the site database will be in just a few weeks. :D
 
I wouldn't expect that there'll be many new members once the txb crew finish migrating. Without being able to view the site as a guest, I can't imagine many people actually creating an account..or am I wrong?
 
I agree. I think we're probably pretty close to as high as we'll get.

Until everything gets situated I want to keep it private. When it's stable, and the themes are stable, then I'll make it more visible.

Every forum has a starting point though. It's likely this place will always be around the capacity that TXB is now but you never know. I mean what's so great about NeoGAF that attracted millions of posters?
 
Yeah I'm not saying it's not possible, and would be nice if at least the OTL could get back to what it was in it's glory days.

I'd pitch in. I don't use paypal, so I'd hope for an online credit card donation link or an email address I can do an e-transfer from my bank account.
 
You can make credit card payments through PayPal without having a PayPal account I believe.

Amazon has a "Amazon Associates Program" (think it's still called that). You can sign up to that and advertise games (or whatever they sell) on your site and when people click on the ads and buy the game you get a percentage of the sales. I'm not sure of all the details but something to check out. I purchase all my games from Amazon and I wouldn't mind coming here first, clicking on a link and going to Amazon through this site to place my orders.

Thanks for that suggestion, Master. I'll definitely look into that. If I did ads they wouldn't be intrusive. Something under the info block on the right is what I think would work.

Wow, that's interesting. Never knew about this. It looks like it could be very helpful.
 
Any of the old forums I was on, I was always a mod and did graphics. Sadly don't anymore but kinda miss the new gen console forum community so I'd donate as well if it got to that :)
