Interesting. Wonder why there aren't any optimization compilers on next gen version?

According to FromSoftware game modder Lance McDonald, the executable that launches the PS5 version of Elden Ring is horrendously unoptimised. Unlike other versions of the game, including the PS4 version, Elden Ring on PS5 lacks simple optimisations.

When looking at FromSoftware’s new Armored Core VI’s PS5 performance, McDonald revealed that they recently reverse engineered the executable for Elden Ring. When doing so, they found out exactly why the game runs so poorly on PlayStation 5 systems.

I recently reverse engineered Elden Ring’s PS5 executable and the reason their game runs worse in their PS5 builds compared to PS4 is because their PS5 builds have no compiler optimisations whatsoever. It’s that simple.

As it turns out, Armored Core VI has the exact same issue on PlayStation 5. While the game is locked to 30fps 1800p on PS4 Pro, putting that version of the game into a PS5 gives you a solid 60fps instead. However, you will miss out on the ray-tracing feature, even if it’s not that great.

In his experience, McDonald believes that most people should play Armored Core VI’s PS4 version on PS5 instead of the console’s native port. If a solid framerate is most important to you, it’s clearly the way to go.

PS5 is terrible. Lol. It is so bad you have to play last gen versions of games.

Seems realistic.

I paused my ER playthrough to wait for this. I was only on the second main dungeon. From Soft DLC I just have no idea how it will be implemented figured better safe than sorry.

It is DLC. It isn't GTA6.
It’s an expansion to one of the biggest games of the last few years. You’re intentionally underplaying it to be contrarian.

Also, just remembered they recently said it’s a while out. Suppose anything is possible but I’d be surprised.

Does that mean you are being hyperbolic just to be a dick?

I'm not down playing anything. A 2 month ramp up for an expansion is plenty. It isn't unrealistic. Do I think it will happen? Nope. I think late Spring is more likely.

So you agree it isn’t happening. Lol.

Whether you and I think two months is plenty, is irrelevant. It’s about what the money loving executives think. And this isn’t the equivalent of a Dark Souls DLC. It’s far bigger. The tell is that if we look around the industry, when games have “expansions” come they tend to be revealed and dated far, far more than two months prior.

If you think that’s hyperbolic, I think you’re out of touch, but that’s what opinions are for.

I never said it was happening. I just didn't agree that them not showing it ruled out a Feb release.
