Yeah, they won't make that mistake again (ending the main story ends the game).

Actually I think they made that mistake twice already. New Vegas also ended once you finished the story from what I remember.

Doesn't look like this was posted.

Sounds great in theory. Lets hope it does play out like they intend it to.

Sounds interesting. I guarantee you a game breaking build will be created within a week by someone.

That's surprising, after the uproar over Fallout 3. Different developer, of course, but still, you'd think they'd have learned.

I don't remember much of a fuss being made over the New Vegas ending. I didn't make it to the end myself.

It was very annoying. They took the code base including its problems (like locking after the end) and didn't add the fixes that had been introduced with the DLC.

You know what wasn't annoying, the awesome game New Vegas was:bang:

FO3 and New Vegas having an ending that locked the game made sense.

People whining about not being able to further change a world when the main narrative was complete ruined the experience in FO3.

People kept crying about New Vegas ending and not being able to play after you finished the main narrative, but it made perfect sense.

Let's say you finish the game playing for yourself. Well, you didn't do it for the NCR, Legion or Mr. House so the world was effected in this or that way and the ending slides tell that story.

Then after the game ends, what exactly? You go to the Kahns camps and wipe them out even though the narrative already told you that they live a long, productive life and settle in this or that place?

It wouldn't make sense.

Agreed.
Also the reasoning behind it being locked goes back to the first Fallout. The storylines all weave together and tell a story that is set in stone even though the irony being when you are playing you can forge your own story.
Lets say in Fallout 1 you decided (after the main game quest where you kill the Master and are subsequently exiled upon your return to vault 13) you decide to say well "f*** it" and go back to vault 13.
You exact your revenge and kill everyone in Vault 13. You then find Vault 13's GECK device and leave with it just because you like how it looks
This act alone would have serious repercussions in later Fallout games. In Fallout 2 your descendant finds the GECK in Vault 13 and uses it later on to create a new village with the former dwellers of Vault 13 (which you would have murdered in the previous game.)
All these games have an interweaving story and for that reason the games have been locked afterwards.

How refreshing is it to such a humble attitude.

Forget the typical IGN bullcrap title.

ordered my fallout 4 loot crate today and I can't wait to get it. I just hope it's worth the steep price of $100 USD.

Is it November yet? No? Well that's good, i have enough games to play anyway. Still can't wait to play Fallout 4 on the PS4 though!

Yep, I am in too. Well actually 3 times with all the debacle trying to get one. The demand for this blew up their servers and made a mess out of the ordering process. Some people were charged as many as 25 times trying to place an order (it showed on the website as an error but was actually charging people). Appearantly they were getting 15,000 hits a second for orders when the pre-ordering went live. Huge demand.

I hope I get an extra one that I didn't mean to order as I think they are going to be selling for over $200 when they ship, which would make the one I keep "free". :txbcool:

Knowing what a big Fallout fan his dad is, my son came home from Gamestop today with a very nice surprise for me...

Fallout Anthology (1, 2, 3 (Ultimate), Tactics, and New Vegas (Ultimate) - all PC versions) plus this fricking amazing mini-nuke complete with realistic sounds. This thing is huge, at least a foot tall. I don't know when I will even get to playing the games but the Nuke is cool enough on it's own. I just hope the po-po never come into my home because they may call in the bomb squad to try to disarm this thing!

Son of the year? I think so...

So this is why people have children. *Runs off to make 30 kids*

Hope I catch you in time...while this was an awesome score, I am still waaaay in the red from this kid. Keep it sheathed!

Too Late. Once the beast is unleashed there is no stopping it *Grrrrrr....Growl....*

The wait is killing me! Trying to decide on what type of character I'll be creating. In F3 and New Vegas I stuck with being lightweight, sneaky and mostly used rifles/sniper rifles. I think I might try focusing on melee or explosives this time around.

Yeah, I'm going to spend way too much time on this game.

Here's a faction refresher, along with some speculation about the factions we might see featured in Fallout 4.

Can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm not going to buy it at launch. We'll see how long I can hold off.
