PDF works for me too. OMG, I loved FarCry 3 (hated 2). THIS IS DAY f***ING ONE...preload if available :) Glad they are not going back to that s*** hole environment in FC2....that was s***.

What made Far Cry 3 so good? It's one of those franchises I never got around to play.

Its one of those games that just feels right when you play it. Gun play was good. Story was good. Graphics were good. Voice work was good. Game mechanics such as stealth were some of the best in any game in recent memory. The driving was good.

It is not without faults though. It could have hada bit more to do in the world away from the story. A lot of the best abilities get unlocked a little late for my liking.

That sounds like something I still need to get..I'm gonna keep an eye out for a used copy.

Far cry 3's story was cheesy. The sandbox environment and shooting mechanics were the only good things about the game. The tropical island after awhile loses it's appeal.

By the way, what's with the cheesy box cover? It's like looking at a Saint's Row box cover.

I played it on PC(M&K), so I'm not sure how it was on a controller, but they finally nailed the control/mechanics. The abilities you get. The satisfying stealth, the OCD inducing "gotta catch em all" kinds of item hunting. Nice crafting system. Good side missions. Much-Better-than-average story with arguably one of the best villains in video game history. Huge world, great graphics. Easily worthy of a GOTY. If you like FPS/adventure games, then it is a no-brainer. Just buy it. Oh yeah, bows. I love bows in games :)

Only real problems I had is that once you take out the enemy bases, they don't come back. Toward the end it can feel a little boring if because there are only people to fight in the places you haven't taken over. Still a ton of exploring to do, and unlike some, I like that I can see where the items are on the map. Its almost like a puzzle finding them because it doesn't give you a 3d view.

Never played a Far Cry... am I bad?

FarCry originals were for the most part linear campaigns, very pretty and decent fun. I would play FarCry instincts if you can get it free on Steam. FarCry 2, IMO, was a disgrace to the franchise. FarCry 3 redeemed the franchise, and was my favorite to date. Just a fun 80's story for the most part, but it's in my top 5 games of last year. I know you wouldn't regret playing it.

Good news...I loved Far Cry 2 and 3...never got to play the first,my PC sucked at the time the game originally released,I heard it was harder and took a weird direction near the end...

I guess i wasn't as bummed on FC2 as you were, it had issues, but there were aspects of that game that i wished 3 had retained actually. 3 came out at the end of 2012, but yeah, it was my fav. game that year for sure, I'd actually put it in my top 5 of the generation for me...

Will buy.

Hell, I'd have bought an "ultimate edition" hd-ified next gen console version of Far Cry 3!

if you've played a ubi game then you've played far cry

Well, he's played Child of Light, but that's a far cry from Far Cry. Although I should add, some of the Far Cry team worked on CoL.

I loved Far Cry 3. I was surprised that I did, since I never was able to get into Far Cry 1 or 2. Far Cry 3 kept me interested the way few games do. There were so many options -- drive around, hunt, do various challenges, explore, raid camps, progress the main story, hang glide, level up, craft stuff, climb the radio towers, whatever. It was a lot of fun. I especially liked infiltrating all the camps.

Happy to hear about the Far Cry 4 announcement.

Wow. This is great news. Funny enough I had just posted in the X1 E3 thread about whether we could potentially see Far Cry 4 at E3, but I never expected it would release this year. That is awesome. Another game to look forward to. Im psyched. Far Cry 3 was truly an exceptional game.

I've never played a Far Cry game either. Heard a lot of hype about 3 but never really became interested in it.
