it plays great. Just like how I remember it.
I read up on this, they say it is not good to do it because you have only 30 days of whatever and you are stuck to pay for it if you use the Game Pass route.
Yeah isn't it you have to pay to be Gamepass member plus pay the subscription fee on top? Or is there a discount ?
Wait if you’re a GPU member you still have to pay the monthly subscription for the game too?
From what I read, use the free play version instead using the gamepass perk.

In a post on Final Fantasy XIV's website, Square Enix wrote that, in order to play the MMORPG on Xbox, you will be required to have a Game Pass subscription on top of paying the monthly subscription for the game itself. However, if you have a Free Trial version of the game, a subscription is not required
Yeah definitely seems like it would be much better off just playing the free trial as you would never get through all that content in that short of a time.
Nah, they can choke on a chicken bone. ESO is much better and doesn't require to pay anything beside the game. FFXIV requires you to buy the game and its expansion, on top of a monthly fee.
Like I said, they can go and f*ck themselves.
If that is the case game is going to be DOA on XB why even bring it. I was curious about the game but never mind now.
Im going back to ESO, they just dropped, and new Expansion which it is included in Gamepass. I am just going to play that instead.
Also, like I said...Microsoft now owns 2 big MMORPG and FFXIV is in deep water because if WOW goes on Gamepass with out the monthly fee, it is over for FFXIV.
They need us more than we need them.
Paying the monthly fee is obvious. Don't understand why anyone would expect Xbox users to get some kind of exemption.
MMO’s on consoles should not have a monthly fee IMO, you should just have to pay for the main game, micro transactions, and DLC. Now if they wanna throw in extras for people that do subscribe to their fan service sure like they do with Fortnite and GTA Online.
If people don't want to pay that is fair but the actual only problem is Microsoft not letting non game pass subs play the game even if they buy it and sub to it.
Their model obviously works for the game and clearly works well enough on a console
Yeah needing a online sub when others don't is dumb. But I'm guessing users from other platforms also have to pay the monthly fee which is down to SE.
FFXIV finally officially releases on Xbox in a few days, and Square Enix has posted one last article for Xbox gamers to get ready. But there's an important piece of info that has been conveniently left out until now.
Along with a Game Pass sub required to play the game (as a reminder: there is no equivalent requirement on PS systems), it seems that Microsoft also wants a cut out of every transaction because they are introducing FFXIV Coins to pay for subscriptions and optional items (which currently cost anywhere from $1 to $50). We don't know what the pricing and/or conversion rates will be, but there's a good chance that everything will be priced higher to compensate for Microsoft's cut. It is also a certainty that coins will be sold in bundles as opposed to just being able to buy the amount you need (see: Elder Scrolls Online, or any other online game that sells currency).
FFXIV Coins
Payment for service fees and optional item purchases will require FFXIV Coins, which can be purchased from the Microsoft Store. Please purchase FFXIV Coins before using the Mog Station or FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Store.
After purchasing FFXIV Coins from the Microsoft Store, log into the Xbox Series X|S version of FINAL FANTASY XIV to have the purchased FFXIV Coins credited to your Square Enix Account. You will not be able to use the purchased FFXIV Coins until you log in, so please be sure to log in after purchasing FFXIV Coins.

You basically need to sub to Gamepass, buy another subscription on top to play the game , plus you have your own Xbox coin that you can't use on any other platform because MS wants a cut for your microtransactions.
You need Game Pass core.. or Xbox Live.

Regardless, FFXIV is late in the game with that old ass monthly fee garbage. There is no way I'm going to pay monthly for 1 game when I have over 200 + games to pick.
ESO is better.
that is true and now we know why because of this new coin system. It is still ass and Square-Enix is late like always.
