Every so often I play a game that challenges me.
And when I say challenge, I don't mean through complex gameplay. Instead, I am referring to a challenge that goes much farther than quick fingers and a steady aim.

flower is one of those games. Game is a loose term here, actually. Experience seems to fit more snuggly.
There's no high score, no death, and no princess to save. It's like nothing you've ever played before.

flower doesn't have me wondering what is going to happen next. Rather, it has me wondering as to what happen before. Centering around mankind's obsession with expansion and industrialism, flower offers hope. It's an underdog story, but it doesn't tell you that. As a matter of fact, it doesn't tell you anything. And it doesn't have to.

flower pushes the boundaries of conventional gaming by exploring the idea of what interactive entertainment can be. Moreover, it offers an experience based on emotion rather than intricate gameplay.

This isn't so much a review. More of a ramble. I just finished playing through this title. If you have a PS3, PS4, or Vita, I encourage you to try it out. It's relatively cheap on the PS Store ($6.99 or so) and well worth your time.

No, haven't tried Journey. I might have to now. Once the summer gets going, I can relax and play some more games (Watch Dogs, FFXIV, etc.) I might have to add Journey to that list.

Yeah, I think you'll Journey, too. I loved it. I haven't played Flower. As I understand it, the PS4 version is slightly better than the PS3 somehow, so I'm going to wait until I get a PS4 to play it. But yeah, That Game Company seems to do some really interesting stuff.

I'm thinking of getting this game. I just finished Child of Light. Loved it.

I've said it before, but I HIGHLY recommend anyone who already played it on PS3 play it again on PS4. It's a cross buy, so you'll have it for free, but the visual upgrades (better resolution, frame rate, and new physics) make for a really beautiful experience graphically. It's a joy to play and a joy to look at. I actually think I've played it more on PS4 than I did on PS3 the first time.
