Future Xbox Console - 2028?

Yup. Phil said back in 2021 that the team is already designing the next generation of consoles. He said that Xbox consoles are "critical" to the future of Xbox.

Their whole strategy is literally going all digital lol.

Don't know if will always need DRM/internet to verify license but seems logical to be checking pretty frequently (monthly? Weekly? Daily?)

It’s been noted in many different interviews that the next Xbox will have options.

DRM could be solved if they do what Amazon does with their kindle devices, for their DRM, which I think is daily, but it’s at anytime, using wifi if need be/connected already….basically add a built in wireless modem dedicated to only said check-in

That's everyone's strategy sadly. It's been known for years publishers want to get rid of physical games.
Look at how many discs are more or less just keys now days.

Which sucks. There should always be an option . RIP physical game collectors and gamers who like to own their titles.

Yup. Looks like Sony is going that route too. PS5 Slim is rumored digital only as well. Hopefully the add-on disc drive gets traction, but it won’t be around long.

I’m hoping got just a refresh, but if you look back at their previous refresh s, it did get a small bump in power, even though it was the same tech, it was more of an overclock of said hardware. But hopefully they add that new tech support as in smaller size, wifi 6 and the latest Bluetooth

If it's just a refresh then their next gen won't be for another 4 years at least I think.
 
Next-gen should be

$99.99 A stream Xbox with a controller. - 3 months of game pass. The servers are the next-gen hardware.

$299.00 for a small stream Xbox with a controller, 3 months of game pass, and a handheld device. The servers are the next-gen hardware.

$599.99 next-gen console

So that way it is just one console to develop for.

They should just make the app available to anyone who’d allow it. I know they have a partnership with Samsung, so it’s already installed/native to their TVs. Hell you can use it on Teslas now.

But with the new controller, that leaked, should include like a months worth of GP, or even if it’s two weeks. For the new controller is similar to stadias, where it connects via wifi directly instead of Bluetooth or Xbox’s own proprietary wireless tech. That way it’ll cut that extra step from device to wifi router then service.

I do hope they nix the s variant, if it’s a thing than it should be a portable device that can work alone or in conjunction with the x variant. But also allow other digital stores to work with it, like steam and epic…oh and it needs to include a port for nvme drives and their proprietary storage cards so you can just use the current ones on it like a switch card.
