It really doesn't, but if they just make the same hub like world as in 5 but with more sidequests and enemies sprinkled around the world I think it would be great. 5 was too barren when it came to the open worldish element imo.

Still, if they go full open world I just hope they'll make sure that it's not just a vast area with nothing to do except travel.

I have to agree. Gears of War absolutely does not need to be an open-world series. Tight level design with a broad range of combat-scenarios is all those games need.

Original UE3 demos depicted a vehicle similar to the Junker driving through the streets of Sera to show off the asset streaming. Seeing that video around the release of GTA: San Andreas was an impressive sequence. I'm not sure driving around is how anyone really wants to spend their time in the Gears universe, though.

I could see an interconnected world working. Not necessarily in the same structure as a series like Dark Souls, but having a "end game area" that experienced players can b-line to would be great stuff for amped up speedrunners, while us mortals weave our way through the intended path.

Michelle Yan has her work cut out for her in the role of "Story Producer." She'll need to steer Gears of War 5's "Let's talk about how I currently feel" narrative back to it's proper "I'm ready to kick some ass" roots. The kind of personality that made people like those games in the first place. I hope she's up to the task.

Does anyone else think that Gears 6 will be the last Gears?
 
The "big story" from Jeff Grubb today is that there will be a Gears 6 teaser this Summer.

I would guess that means 2025/2026 for release?

How bout a br mode where it’s pvpve? Maybe something like warzone in halo 5, only you have a large enough maps that’ll have engines spawn from anywhere bursting through the ground, maybe you could see the ground raise before it burst open or have some drop from like a volcano, yo, they could add caverns and other underground spots.

No. I want a genuine BR.

But your idea sounds similar to a Co-op Emergence day idea I had.

This is why said no. This series has a lot possibilities.
