I'm sure reviews will be all over the place, some "reviews" I have read said the fight scenes make the movie worth watching on their own and that it's when they focus too much on the people that it bogs the movie down. I have seen once spoiler scene on youtube that was offscreen and even from that I could tell people will like the fights better in this one, the are much easier to see and look to be faster paced.

So can we
Ah ok, didn't know HBO Max had deals in other countries, that service it self is only available in the US as far as I know. I'm surprised they'd allow home streaming earlier in some places than others.

Be careful what you look at regarding the movie. I just had something major spoiled just by looking at images of new film merch Legendary Films is selling.

So the same problem the other godzilla movies had. Got it

The problem they'll always have lol, with monsters this big you are more limited than say something in Jurassic Park where people can really interact with the dinosaurs. Having that little girl interact with Kong in this is really far fetched (as is the whole thing lol) how can he even tell that little doll she makes is supposed to be him? lol.

Has anyone actually watched this yet? It's been out for almost a week I had no idea haha will probably catch It on Friday or something.

Came up at 12:01 pacific time on HBO MAX, I just finished it, it's probably the most fun of any of the modern Godzilla/Kaiju movies I've seen. It's not going to win any academy awards or anything but it's worth watching for sure. Yeah the parts with the people are a bit silly and kind of throwbacks in a way but it fit's with the movie, if anyone goes into a movie about giant monsters fighting and expects Shakespeare that's their problem.

Trying to finish up Godzilla Monsters one...didn't really know that this was a continuing series of sorts. It's not bad.

Don't tell me, but was trying to figure out if Godzilla was being portrayed as the villain in this or not. In the one I'm watching, he's the good one.

Just concerned, because I've loved Godzilla since I was a child and would hate to see him being the bad guy.

It's a bit of the best of both worlds. You get to see him cause some old school "original Godzilla" destruction, but you pretty much immediately realize there's a reason for why he's doing it which ultimately justifies things.

I woke up early to watch it. The monster fight / action scenes are probably the best in this recent "monsterverse" set of films, but the people scenes and story is possibly the weakest. As Jinca said, there are definitely some cheesy moments (particularly in the first half - opening scene alone was pretty tough for me to stomach), but if you're watching for the monster action, you'll be pretty happy on that front. One of the biggest complaints about the two prior Godzilla movies was that you only ever saw him at night or obscured by dust, snow, fog, smoke, etc. They luckily fix that this time around, and you can see the monsters in full glory smashing and causing glorious destruction. They did a good job of making both Godzilla and Kong fans happy in the end.

A couple fun call back moments in the monster scenes to both older Godzilla and older Kong movies, which i enjoyed.

If you have a Dolby Vision compatible TV, you're in for a pretty big treat. Lots of great eye candy, pretty much every minute in Hong Kong is gorgeous. They really seemed to film this with Dolby Vision / HDR in mind, as there is a TON of great visual pop throughout the movie. I'll definitely be rewatching it again while it's still on HBO Max for that aspect alone. Can't imagine how great the 4K UHD Blu will look.

On first watch I'd probably say I liked a couple of the other entries in this recent string of movies more overall as films, but this definitely has some of the best monster action and eye candy.
