Well, both games are coming to next gen. I never bothered with either last gen, but I'll probably take the dip on ONE OF THEM. I've heard they are kind of similar.

For those of you in the know, care to elaborate about what makes each game different, better, worse than the other?

All I really know is one is made by R* and is the whole mob thing and the other is made by SE and has an Asian storyline.

For everyone not suffering an opium hangover, GTA V is the clear winner. Better everything in my opinion and not even on the same level.

GTA V if I had to choose one but Sleeping Dogs is so good too. You really should get both.

I thought Sleeping Dogs on the 360 was really fun. The city wasnt all that huge, however, it had a pretty good story, good graphics and a combat system akin to the Batman Arkham games. I thought the hand to hand combat was pretty fun, especially when your taking on like 10 guys at once.

Depends on what you want. Sleeping Dogs is a bit more unique simply because there aren't many games set in a place like Hong Kong. GTAV offers more for sure though. Honestly, I'm more excited to play Sleeping Dogs on the X1 than I am about experiencing GTAV for the first time personally.

Haven't played either. More likely to get GTA V on PS4.

I would not say they are similar at all. Sure, they are both open world sand boxy kind of games, but The setting, atmosphere, combat mechanics...etc are very different. If you just want a simple this game is better than this one then GTA V is the winner. However, I would urge you to get both at some point. Sleeping dogs was really fun. The emphasis on martial combat was nice. The interactive environments were cool. The setting is a breath of fresh air, and the story was surprisingly good.

I'll DEFINTELY be double dipping with GTAV. Game is just so f*cking good. Then again, I am a huge GTA fan.

Sleeping dogs is great too but if I had to choose? GTAV all the way. Sleeping dogs is a good game but not nearly as much content and replay value as GTAV

I would rather Sleeping Dogs but GTA tops it with quality, content, story pretty much everything but SD has that something special which made me enjoy it more, i was kind of over GTA and took me much longer then it should of to finish.

Sleeping dogs have a more unique setting, Hong Kong City. But I think you can't go wrong with either game.

I had them both on 360 and I'll be getting both of them on PS4. I think GTAV is a deeper game with a more fleshed out world but Sleeping Dogs has a lot going for it as well. I love the emphasis on melee combat in sleeping dogs and I hope that people who didn't play it last gen give the new gen version a shot, the game really deserves a sequel. I do think it's a mistake releasing in October though, while it's coming out fairly early in the month that's a particularly busy month for releases. It's too bad they couldn't have gotten it out in August or September.

I agree, I just wish it had been a bit longer. I also have to say I thought the voice acting was great.

I'd go with GTA V every day of the week. Sleeping Dogs is a great game but it's not on Rockstar's level.

GTA V is a much better game than Sleeping Dogs, it has more content of a higher quality and the world is much better. I'd play Sleeping Dogs before GTA V as going back to Sleeping Dogs after playing GTA V is hard, especially the driving.

Sleeping Dogs is a good game, but the individual elements of the game are a little disjointed. There's no sense of one unified experience - something Rockstar happens to be really good at.

Rockstar have a longer development time, probably a much bigger budget, & probably a much bigger team. Not to mentio9n this is their 5th GTA game. So I think its a bit unfair to Sleeping dog team. To be even comparing to GTA5 is already a big compliment I think to the team, 6 I think the next sleeping dog will be even better.

I am not saying you should therefore buy Sleeping dog, due to the 'handicap' I mentioned, especially when both will cost the same amount. You can surely buy GTA 5, but after finishing it, if you still crave for an open world style game, you should at least considered Sleeping dog as well.

Call me sentimental, but I like to show an underdog small team support, so they can continue to make great games.

While you're right about Rockstar, I wouldn't call United Front a underdog small team either.

I'd say go for Sleeping Dogs, really fun game w/a unique setting and a cool story and fun hand to hand combat system. I had so much fun w/the melee combat I only used guns when absolutely needed.

If you've played any GTA game in the past decade you'll know what your getting.

Both great games but GTA has more replay value for me plus Online might actually be what they originally announced by the time the next gen versions come out.

If you haven't played them you should get both.

For $60, GTA V will hands down give you your moneys worth. It's not even a fair comparison. At the moment there's not a lot of details about exactly what GTA V will improve on over the 360/PS3 versions. But, given Rockstar's track record it'll deliver.

If the Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition announcement trailer from Square is any indication of the quality of a beefed SDs, then it's going to be a disaster. WTF were they thinking? I still suggest getting SD, but wait for a much lower price.
