That is a lot of 3D.

What the hell is Real D 3D, is it more realer than 3D and Imax 3D...

Sounds like a normal night at the cinema with idiots spitting and kicking your chair from behind. Can't believe they named it.

Real D is sort of the standard for 3D. I'd say IMAX 3D and Real D were the standard formats going into the modern 3D boom, pre-Avatar.

Real D is used with a single 3-chip DLP projector, and uses a property polarization screen that is timed to alternate L and R circular polarized images, called the Z-Screen. Circular polarization was a big advancement, since it allows you to tilt your head, and shuts out the opposing frame better than directional polarization.

No, I didn't have to look that one up, I'm just a 3D nerd. Every forum should have one.

First movie filmed entirely in 8K resolution but will be downscaled to 4K after post production. Makes you wonder how sharp it would look if projected in 8K.

Saw this last week. The story is a bit meh but it was very funny. The sass humor is on overdrive in it which is great.

saw this last night, humour is great but story is week and a bit mish mash at start, for the next movie they need to really push the story, the humour can only do so much before it becomes stale.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 will be Disney's first 4K Blu-ray release. Most likely will be a true 4K master since the movie was filmed entirely in 8K and mastered in 4K for theaters. Will also be released on 3D Blu-ray.

Yeah, I posted a link to this same story in another thread. I'm not sure what makes you think this will be an actual 4K transfer. It states pretty clearly that the digital intermediate is 2K. This means that the movie was digitally graded, as well as the CGI (and there's a lot of it in this movie) would most likely also be mastered at 2K.

Provided the Dolby Vision situation pans out as hoped, the only potential fly in the picture quality ointment is the fact that Gunn’s film only received a 2K-resolution Digital Intermediate for its cinematic release.

Assuming this asset has provided the foundation for the 4K release, the image will have had to be upscaled, potentially resulting in a slightly softer looking image than we’ve seen with UHD Blu-rays that can draw on native 4K master files. It’s worth optimistically adding, though, that at least some of the film’s original source assets were captured in Redcode RAW 8K.

Thinking that all of the effects would be rendered again for a UHD release of its HIGHLY optimistic, to say the least.
