Halo 5

I think sprint would work in campaign if the battle areas were wider with better lay-outs and Elites could run after you. That and get rid of bullet sponge Prometheans. Also bring back soldiers that have perma death. The squad AI in Halo 5 was attrocious and I hated that they kept respawning.

I really don't think smaller spaces are hurt by sprint either. Especially how they used it in 5 where your shield won't recharge while sprinting. Having the variable speeds makes things more dynamic, and I love the cat and mouse game-play that didn't exist before. The older games had these large levels that really got a bit "sloggy" due to the plodding nature. Obviously, new efforts need to be made to compensate for a faster speed, and vehicles need to be reformatted to be useful, but I like the IDEA that the Spartans are so capable that a vehicle isn't as necessary.

I agree that the enemy AI needs a bump in skill in order to be more of a threat. I miss the additions from REACH like the jumping jackals.

Bottom line is that I think 343 did a marvelous job on the base Spartan gameplay. Now they really need to focus on bringing up the rest of the game. It is worth noting that 343 very deliberately wanted to get Halo to 60fps. They don't get enough credit for that.

Halo 5 is a great game. Been rocking This for the last couple of days. Fuking game is so fun. SP and MP are probably the best Halo has ever been. I don't get people.

I can explain the dislike with 2 words.

Warden Eternal.

103 reviews give it an 84 average. It sold 5 million copies in the first 3 months alone. There are millions that don't hate it.

How was the Halo 5 rebalance patch? I never did a second run with this game.

I'm tempted to give Halo 5's campaign another shot to see if it plays better now that I've mastered the controls after 1000+ hours of multiplayer. Lol

Halo 5 is the only mainline Halo I haven't beat at least twice. I tried about 2 hours in co-op and still wasn't feeling it. Don't think the squad mechanics or Promethean bullet sponges will ever be ok for me but I'm going in for another assessment.

Crank that difficulty up, baby! The best way to not be annoyed by your squad is to direct them to a task. They can actually be useful. Also know that if you order a revive, they will ignore the danger, and die as they try if still under fire. If you don't order it, they try to get to you, but they prioritize danger.

Without a doubt H5's campaign is bad, I haven't found myself wanting to go through it again and If I do it will be to pick up some achievements. MP is great though.

The best campaigns are H4, Reach and ODST.

Hit me up if you wanna run some co-op Halo 5

Reach made me wish there was an alternate ending where Noble Six jumped on board the Autumn with Captain Keyes and made the journey with the MC and Cortana to the first Halo.

So this talk motivated me to start Halo 5 on Legenday. I'm only 2.5 missions in.

Now that I have a better handle of the controls since the first time I played it, I can say the controls fit the campaign great.

The issue is the Prometheans and AI in general. AI is easily the worst of any Halo game and I think this is highlighted more on my Legendary play through. Enemies are not as dynamic and therefore the battles aren't either.

I'm finding the game much easier on Legendary than other Halos so far...although admittedly this might change once I reach the ultimate bullet sponge, the Warden. I think it's easier because the enemies and battles are more scripted. A lot of COD pop out of cover and shoot enemy who either stays in the same place or takes the same pre-scripted routes. I do find the controls and Spartan Abilities to make single player fun otherwise.

My squad is downright stupid. Quite possibly will go down as one of the worst AI for anything ever. I also believe having the same 4 person squad ruins the classic Halo pacing. I love bouncing between quiet moments with more personal battles and the frantic, large scale stuff in the classic Halos.

Besides the awful story, for Halo's campaign to improve they need to:
  • Get rid of having a permanent squad
  • Make some enemies more aggressive and faster
  • Make enemies more dynamic and unpredictable

I think the problem with the A.I. in the Halo series is, as the demand for resources for better image quality has increased there has been less and less for other things such as A.I.

That is ALL everyone seems to talk about anymore.....graphics, not game play :(

4 for for Story and growing the beard
5 for mechanics and set pieces
ODST for best missions
2 for Badassery

Used to think CE was the best, but smaller weapon sandbox makes it less enjoyable these days.

3 is the one that I only find memorable for scarab battles but don't care about much at all (probably cos it's not great to look at)

Reach has great multiplayer and MY revenant, but the campaign just felt disjointed due to all those CCTV cutscenes and throwaway characters

They all got something to offer.

I think that's been a trend in gaming for far too long. We get amazing visuals, but AI has not improved, and in many cases, regressed.

I really liked H3, and I thought it looked really good for the time.
