Does that mean it will go live next week or it will be unavailable for everyone until it finally is officially launched?
I can't confirm. I just read this on the internet, so I don't know how accurate it is.

Guy is a bit of a windbag. People should be okay to express their opinion or criticism of a game. I think the issue is that overall a lot of these developers give way too much consideration to the criticism from the player base, especially those trying to monetize their product for their own personal gain. You can’t be so detached that you’re working in a vacuum, but you also can’t be so engaged that you lose focus and intent. Much of the player base have no idea and are not particularly smart, let alone helpful. They become a distraction. Stick to your design objectives and focus on feedback that closely aligns with where you’re trying to go with your product.

They obviously don't give enough consideration to the criticism. You can't expect your fanbase to be happy if you ignore them and make products they don't like. Continuing on with a vision that isn't working and isn't liked is going to get you not very far.

I mean who asked for this to be a GaaS? I doubt anybody did because the vocal masses know GaaS inevitably means crap, or at least worse than before.

How is there anybody at 343i who thought releasing the game with zero player progression was good?

If they weren't expecting backlash then they were deluded and clearly out of touch. It isn't just 343i either. The sheer ignorance from devs today is mind boggling.

The devs aren't saying the community is too toxic, some random Youtuber is making that straw man argument.

I usually can’t even make it through their videos if I watch. Waxing on for 15 minutes about something they ultimately know little information about in an effort to sensationalize it, is a waste of time. That’s just it as well, why they may think that way, ultimately they are trying to sensationalize every bit of information to get more views and monetize their content.

I don’t think the devs think the majority are toxic. However, I do think that they often allow the community to become a distraction and lose focus at times. I don’t think there’s really an inherently bad model for most games. You just have to ensure that feedback is not just generally constructive, but constructive to the design goals you’ve decided on for your product. I think is especially true when you are trying to deliver something substantially different to previous iterations.

I don't think it is complex. 343 is short handed, and still needing to push out co-op, forge plus seasonal content.
I don't think there's a feedback problem. 6 month seasons that drag on forever while we wait for major components to come out.

These companies come up with the idea of making a live service game, yet fail to understand the requirements for keeping the content coming.

These things spiral into a hate spiral where the content never keeps up and people just keep getting saltier and saltier.

Interestingly enough, it doesn’t seem like a dev like Rare is struggling as much with something like this. Overall, they keep putting content out for Sea of Thieves and player engagement is pretty good. If I remember correctly, I think they’re about half the size of 343i. Obviously, there’s other factors at play as well, as even the communities are very different and SoT is a brand new IP.

Sea of Thieves went through it at launch too. That game was pretty thin at launch but got better. They fly under the radar a little now that the hype train died down.

343 still needs to meet "Halo Hype". Plus, FPS games are going through this weird lull now where everything is lacking. People are kind of seeking anything to play in the FPS market, which just frustrates people more.

This game will get better eventually. Forge looks really good.

No offense to Karmakid, but I never watch any of the user youtube videos he posts.

I should probably better vetting tho, but it kinda works cos engagement 🤔😆

The difference is SOT wasn't missing engagement based features. It was barebones, yes, but they had progression system that keep people engaged over time until the content starts to flow. There wasn't all this BS 6 months droughts either.

I’d say it’s more like, you’re in the icu with a drip feed but that feed has its own drip feed, that happens to have regulated timer worse than California water restrictions.

Or like that water scene from rango, honestly it’s the premise of rango

It isn't, though, not really (talking about the ICU drip. Don't know the Rango reference.) Halo simply has no content drops. SOT, if I remember correctly, dropped content every month through that first year, which included extra progression for continued engagement.

Well, there’s those “drop pods” 😆

343 even has trouble getting cosmetics into the pay store... it is kind of insane.
