I have had my Samsung 50 inch plasma 720P for a few years now and I am thinking about making a change. I am starting to notice more and more red dots (pixels) lately and the burn in can be annoying. I am thinking about going LED but ill be honest I do not know to much about TVs, I have had my eye on these two, let me know if these are a good choice or if I should look into something else. If I am buying a new TV I want to get something bigger so I want a 60inch or bigger for under $1000

http://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-E60...-Smart-HDTV-VIZIO-Direct-Refurbished/24516217 This says refurbished but I saw it in store new for the same price.

I have had my eye on the 60 and 70 inch Sharp for a long time but the Vizio is a Smart TV for the same cost so I am not sure what to do. I am open to suggestions and any feedback on LED TVs, thanks.

Time to go portable.

I may not be an expert but this guy knows his stuff.

If you want reliability, you should go portable. And if you're gonna go portable, you could do a lot worse than this.
My family owned one, not sure why, but it was my favorite. I loved that it was small and easy to carry. I remember during the teenage years, I had to do something downstairs in the garage. I eventually hooked up my xbox to this thing and played stuff like Dead or Alive and Halo. I even remember playing some N64 games on it, such as Jet Force Gemini.

Panny Plasma VT series or better before they're gone!

My VT60 just came in last week and I am blown away by it. Haven't really messed with the calibration much - I think I read it should age about 100 hours before you start messing with some settings.

But the features of this TV are off the hook, I honestly had no idea all I was getting with this other than a great picture. I thought my Samsung 55" LCD I bought 3 years ago was incredible...and it still is great in many ways...but this Panny Plasma is boss.

Damn. I'm set on TV'S for now. But that's a pretty tempting entry point for 4k.

I lied, it was 50" my bad. Still a decent price.

I just bought a "bed room" tv during black Friday, so I def want to pick up a 4k tv in about 2 years when I buy a place back home.

Def want 65" + hehe.

Right on! I still have this kickin' round the shop.

I appreciate some of the feedback. I guess my question now is are the two TVs I listed descent TV's for the price? I want a 60inch or bigger TV for under $1000 and these two seem pretty solid to me but again I don't know to much about TV's

If you're willing to pay a bit more to typically get the best rated TVs, get Samsung or Panasonic.... but Panasonic is getting out of plasma TVs soon..... that may mean a good time they are clearing them out. Plasmas have the best colours, but are heavy.

If you want to pay a bit and get decent quality TVs, get Sharp or Sony.

If you are on a budget and want a brand name, LGs are probably best. LGs are rated decent as well, but rarely you'll find them up there with Samsung or Pannys.

Scouring TV ratings when I was looking for a new TV a few years ago (I got a Panasonic 60" plasma), Vizios are cheaply priced, but quality is all over the place. Sometimes it would be rated one of those "great value bang for the buck", but other times it would be bottom of the barrel. Very hit and miss. On the other hand, Samsung and Panasonic TVs are generally always rated the best.

Oh, and if you can get it from Costco. Not sure about the US, but here in Canada all TVs from Costco get 2 years warranty, not 1 year. And any repairs you need have pick up and delivery a phone call away through Costco Concierge service.

II have a 37" Vizio in the master bedroom...I think it produces a really good picture for the price. The only downsides are the remote controller is garbage and the smart tv stuff is pretty slow and cumbersome.

I researched these 2 TV's I have listed a little more last night and I am a little turned off by both of them. I read mixed things about the Vizio, it sounded like a great value and had some descent reviews but to many people complaining about the screen going black within the first 3 months. I believe Vizio is aware of this issue and has addressed it but if you get an older serial number this will happen. They do replace the TV at not cost but not sure I want to chance that and how would I tell if my serial number is old. Stinks because I was leaning towards this one.

The Sharp has less issues but people were saying certain picture settings reset every time you switch inputs which is stupid! Also no optical in sucks, how would it not have this? I have a Vizio soundbar with a Sony sub and I have it hooked up with an optical cable.

Not sure what I am doing to do now.

Get a 4K vizio for $1000

Can't believe I'm saying this but those Vizio R series TVs look pretty good, can't wait till reviewers get their hands on them to see if they are as great as they seem.

Sounds good, I'm good for 5 years at least since I just got my Panny VT last year. But looks like Vizio maybe a contender for my money in the future.
