In the market for a new monitor and was looking at these.

Dell UltraSharp U2412M

ASUS VG248QE

Used for gaming pretty much exclusively. Any opinions or other suggestions?

Perfect for Black Backgrounds and White Text

Both are pretty good choices. I'd lean toward the Dell, but that's just my bias toward them.

Keep in mind that the cheaper Dell monitors are great in picture quality yet lacks HDMI ports. This has been a huge drawback for me, as I had to connect Xbox One to the new monitor.

If it's for gaming you might want to wait to see how G-SYNC shakes out, mainly prices. I'm relatively certain that the ASUS you mentioned is one of the models that will first include G-SYMC starting around December.

So if you're going to use Nvidia GPU's it's something to keep in mind.

I've had the Ultrasharp Dell 2711 for a few years now. It's been an amazing thing for me. I've appreciated it a lot more than my 60'' LG Plasma which was the flagship models a few years ago.

There is this pre-calibrated color spectrum profile that covers most of the RGB spectrum. It's very accurate. It's the same panel that they use in Imacs and Thunderbolt display.
I've heard people talk about input lag, but I have never had a problem. I guess it could be a problem if you are a competitive e-sport gamer who needs 120-200 fps in counter-strike, but besides that it's really top notch.
