History Channel's Vikings

I can't believe someone beat me to it, watching it right now via the replay. Caught most of it previously though. At first I was a bit disappointed by the rush of the battle, which could've at least had one episode of build up, but it was an awesome battle. Brutal stuff.

My favorite part when the princess came over and he was hidding. That sh*t was funny!

Second episode was awesome. Battles in Wessex was amazing and I'm loving how sneaky Siggy is. You could label her as a bitch, but considering all that she's lost, I'd love to see her gain a bit of revenge on Ragnar. Saw a sneak peek and it looks like the small Viking town with no younger warriors left will is in for some intense battles. Rollo's redeeming himself good and quick. Can't wait to see him tear s*** up again. I'm afraid he won't survive the second season though.

Hot damn, what an episode. s*** was brutal, but the old man defending his village was epic. I was cheering out loud for him and was all like "he took two with him!" Love this show man, it's really hooked me in. Lots of action so far this season too.

I have only seen season 1 i enjoyed it. They aired all of season 2 yesterday i recorded it starting to watch it now. First episode was good he was trying to pimp and have two wives lol. Season finale is tomorrow night i believe.

They started the series with Ragnar having visions of Odin. I want more of this. It would be sweet if they mixed it up more with that sort of thing.

Man, I completely fell out of the show because of a lack of time and Game of Thrones. Thinking that I'll just save the rest for when the rest of the season is complete. Either way, I'm three episodes behind right now, but it's been a pretty damn good season and I'm super happy that they got renewed for a third. So glad History Channel took a chance on this and not just another Pawn Stars show.

Harp Song of the Dane Women
by Rudyard Kipling

What is a woman that you forsake her,
And the hearth-fire and the home-acre,
To go with the old grey Widow-maker?
She has no house to lay a guest in—
But one chill bed for all to rest in,
That the pale suns and the stray bergs nest in.

She has no strong white arms to fold you,
But the ten-times-fingering weed to hold you—
Out on the rocks where the tide has rolled you.

Yet, when the signs of summer thicken,
And the ice breaks, and the birch-buds quicken,
Yearly you turn from our side, and sicken—

Sicken again for the shouts and the slaughters.
You steal away to the lapping waters,
And look at your ship in her winter-quarters.

You forget our mirth, and talk at the tables,
The kine in the shed and the horse in the stables—
To pitch her sides and go over her cables.

Then you drive out where the storm-clouds swallow,
And the sound of your oar-blades, falling hollow,
Is all we have left through the months to follow.

Ah, what is Woman that you forsake her,
And the hearth-fire and the home-acre,
To go with the old grey Widow-maker?

Got damn, what a show and ending to the season. Can't wait for the third!

So did Ragnar have Horik's children killed? If so, it comes across as a bit hypocritical of him since he cared so much for his.

Yes. He had them all killed save for Horik's son. I also hear there was a Aslaug + Ragnar + Lagertha threesome scene in the international version. Those of us in the US will have to wait for the blu-ray release.

Just finished season 2. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to season 3 next year. Would be cool if they went to America. Do not remember where exactly that some historians think the Vikings could have landed in Northern North America.

Wasn't it somewhere up in Canadian territory?

I was told that will not happen on the show because the show and events it is based on take place before Vikings would have landed in North America.

I think that'd be an interesting made-for-TV movie though. They kind of just came and went, but it'd be an interesting exploration of their initial hope of discovery and ultimate failure to really create a livable plot of land for themselves.
