Housing, Working From Home, Leaving Cities Devastated By Failing To Change

I think it would be interesting to reinvent the idea of the Mall in these places on the ground level. Mostly, make the main anchor store Grocery for major convience.

I think cities already have locations like this, but it would be interesting to include Cyber Cafes or restraurants and offer quality and delivery.

Also, on the Zoning, make sure Business can still be done from here to make it friendly to Digital Nomads / Freelancers who escaped the office long ago but still seek the mix of being cozy and self sufficient.

Most new buildings that go up are like this, but they’re only realty effective when done in a very populous area where there’s lots of foot traffic.

Yeah, I'm kind of thinking the idea could use a rework. Use a store that is popular, but not as big an operation as something like Whole Foods. Easy to walk-in shop, but make it a point on convenient delivery, and can be handled with smaller staff. Maybe something like KWIK TRIP or SHEETZ. Something that can handle Kiosk or internet ordering and sell decent booze or coffee.

The problem is, the rent for many of these street level stores is insane.

and...... why these cities are fvcked I guess.

Or..... I dunno if there are ever situations where the Landlord is the owner of the franchise store as well? They wouldn't charge themselves Rent?

They always charge rent. Owning the building is a separate business, for sure. Just like McDonalds is one of the largest building owners on the planet. They own the vast majority of the buildings that McDonalds are in. It’s separate from its franchising business.
