There are 2 things that have bothered me immediately.

1. The name of this site.
If it were not for Illiniguy, I NEVER would have given this place a second look. Sounds nothing like a video game forum.

2. The forum structure
Why is everything cluttered in to a single sub forum? I think this place needs to get a little more organized.

Playstation 4
Playstation 4 Discussion
Playstation 4 Games
Playstation Network

Xbox One
Xbox One Discussion
Xbox One Games
Xbox Marketplace

3. Add a release date ticker for both the PS4 and Xbox One.

4. Use the empty space on the right hand side of the main forum page. Status updates could go there.

I am just sharing my thoughts as a new member here. These are the first things that bothered me and figured I would share my thoughts.

1. That's the name I came up with. It has meaning to me about how this came about. It's about us moving to a new place together. We were united in the move and also the uniting of people from both sides of the brewing console war. The more the site grows the more exposure it will get everywhere.

2. The forum structure is the way it's gonna be for a long while. There's not enough traffic to support the amount of sub-forums you suggested. Most actually wanted LESS forums. One for hardware and one for games. Everything combined. Then people ended up not liking it and we went to the current structure.

3. There was a countdown timer but it just took up space so I dropped it.

4. There's no white space anywhere on the site. You have AdBlock/Whitelist that's blocking everything in that column on the home page and the forum home.

1. "The name of the site... Sounds nothing like a video game forum."

Despite the fact that it contains the words "videogame forum"?

2. What subforum is everything clustered into? And you want to separate "games" from "discussion" from "marketplace/PSN"? Bad idea, imo. Current structure was arrived at after several iterations and seems to be working reasonably well.

I see Plainview has chimed in, so I'll drop it there.

If I recall correctly, we voted to have the forum layout the same as it was at TXB when we were there, right? Kinda feels like home, as before.

Just sharing my immediate opinion after joining the forum. If I feel this way, I would assume others would as well. The fact that there are not sub forums separating the PS4 and Xbox One more clearly, really makes everything feel cluttered in to one section. Making it difficult to locate threads on a certain subject or issue.

If I wish to view threads on just the PS4 games, I am forced to sift through threads that I am not interested at the moment. It is sort of like just tossing papers in to a folder. A filing cabinet makes everything neat and easier to locate what you are after.

Like I said before, as a brand new member, these are what caught my attention immediately.

I'm not following. There's an Xbox forum and a PS forum.

I typed it out in the first post. It is all about structure. I am not trying to make you feel bad or belittle your site. But at least acknowledge that you know exactly what I am talking about lol.

Add these subforums makes more sense and categorizes subjects accordingly. These are only some suggestions. Sometimes it is cleaner to have a filing cabinet instead of a single folder.

Change it, don't change it. It is obviously not my decision.

I read your first post the. You then suggested to make the PS and X1 forums clearer. After that I thought you meant not clear from each other.

I don't take it as belittling. I listen to all suggestions. As the forums grow there may be sub forums added. Right now it's not called for. I would love to have enough traffic to warrant a separate games sub forum but it's not necessary yet. There's only 70 posts on the PS forum.

Can you at least add a "Review" section? Give me something damnit!!!!! lol

I plan on doing a lot of game reviews across the Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4.

I think when next gen drops I'll add one. That was the one forum that I wish had more activity. Let me think about it.

Sounds good. I am only trying to help you out here. I was an Admin/Moderator on a few forums over the last 10 years. Just trying to give some insight on what I know worked.

We've had like four reviews. I folded that forum.

And most of them, if I remember right, were just quotes of, or links to, reviews at other sites. That's pointless. I don't need a separate subforum to discover that IGN gave GTA a 9.5 (or whatever). That stuff belongs in the normal game threads, where it has always been. If there is a separate review forum, it should be for original reviews by site members. I don't really see the need for that at the moment, though.

I personally dislike the "tons of sub forums" organization method.

Agree. I don't like sites that have a bunch of different subforums. Seems too fractured.

Plus, as a mod, I don't want the headache of constantly having to figure out whether something belongs in "discussion" vs. "games" vs. "marketplace" section. Seems like there is a lot of overlap there. The current structure is simple and intuitive, and it's easy to both navigate and moderate.

How it is now is fine. What would be the purpose of an entire forum dedicated to PSN and one to XBL?
Would just be annoying if it were done that way IMO.

Hey! They were my reviews :(

Were they? Oh sorry, man. I do remember some original reviews, now that you mention it, but I also remember people just posting off-site reviews.

Nobody said anything about an entire forum dedicated to the PSN and XBL. I was trying explain everything in the most simplistic way I could possibly think of lol.

Currently 772 total members as I type this & you're talking sub-forums? It will make complete sense after a few thousand more members join and there is a constant rate of posting going 24/7. But right now it would make each section feel even more sluggish.

Yeah most of those sub forums would end up looking like this:

Ya, I have no idea what I am talking about. Same forum structure properly. We turned this forum in to a very strong forum in a matter of weeks. I was just trying to share how we did it.

See what I'm sayin? Picking up what I'm laying down? It just doesn't make sense at this stage to have all those sub-forums. Your layout of them is great (I don't think anyone disagrees) and will work just fine when the amount of posters is increased to an amount to where those sub-forums aren't just pointless wastelands.

That forum did not start with 6,000 members home slice. But new members and visitors need to feel comfortable. And visually, this place is not comfortable. We started that forum with empty sub forums, but they filled quickly as new members started rolling in and posting.

Again, this is just what we have done and I know it worked. The chat box was also a big feature that actually drew in a crowd. For some reason the chatbox works best at the top of the forum. It also shows what new threads were created.

I am not trying to piss anyone off, I am just giving some advice from experience.

Remember, we have over a decade of experience here with these forums. These forums may be new but we're not new at doing this.

After sifting through many of the feedback threads, it seems you have all the answers lol.

Good luck, hope it all works out for you.
