Today for the first time in my life as an adult I wasent able to open a jar with brute strength and without using any tricks. A feat I had previously prided myself in.
Turns out I'm a mere mortal after all. The shame is unbearable.

Haha. The other day I tried brute strength too and stopped the second I felt a slight twinge in my shoulders. Needed to do the old elastic band trick.

For a second I thought we were talking about Jar Jar Bink. Whew. That guy is scary.

Some jars make you work for it.

And don't get me started on those strong plastic packages where you practically have to cut the item out with a good blade.

Protip: If a jar is too hard to open do the following:

1. Tip jar upside down
2. Pop the bottom of the jar with your hand (like slamming your hand on the table cause GRRRRR YOU'RE ANGRY)
3. Notice the sound of the vacuum sealed top popping
4. Get the 3 month old infant in your neighborhood to open the jar, because it's just that easy

Assuming a metal lid.... hold the lid under hot water in the sink. I think this makes the lid actually expand just a tiny bit, but enough to loosen the lid on the jar so you can actually turn the damn thing.

My first thought upon reading the thread title:

The thing that gets me a lot is the top to olive oil. It's oily so makes it very hard to turn.
