I don't think it's proof, you pretty much know that you're going to earn low wages if you are filling out an app for Walmart, who says "when I grow up I'm going to wrangle carts for Walmart!". I think it's just proof that even with some sort of income families are still in financial trouble that they're trying to work there way out of.

I do my shopping at Wegmans.

For non-grocery stuff I shop at Amazon. I know Amazon isn't the shinning light of the world in terms of business practice, but at least their employees get good benefits.

Why is this a reason to hate them? Why would you hate one of the largest employers in america?
Because Walmart makes billions of dollars a year off of these "associates" and instead of giving them a Thanksgiving bonus so they can eat, they ask other underpaid staffers to donate food for them.

I don't hate them, but there is the angle that they basically exploit people.
They employ people, but they pay them as little as possible.
They source their goods from China which contributes to worker exploitation in China while further weakening domestic industry.
They destroy smaller retailers in the area.

I'm not condoning it either, but I'd say there's certainly room for them to improve. Starbucks is another huge multinational franchise well-known for being a great employer. Coffee is different to consumer goods, but wouldn't it be nice if an employer the size of Walmart was offering America more than just low prices?

money is made by a company that brings in more they they pay out, Walmart is a smart company. They are not a nonprofit or a not for profit, if the employees don't like their wages let them find employment elsewhere.

you probably tell homeless people to go get a job too.

No no hatred for Wal-mart is good....just to give an example 90% of the super centers food money is from EBT or food stamps ,in fact they hand out applications to EBT to all their employee's well at least in up state NY. I know blue collar work is a big no no in the US today as it is left for Mexican immigrants, but it needs to make a huge come back along with unions, just my 2 cents.

A perspective as valid as the one I detailed before. I agree with neither.

A business is a business and is entitled and designed to turn a profit. I can't hate them for that. But I can't help admire a business that does more to promote human development or improve the world in general along the way.

Businesses that are give human rights buy the US and international governments is just a joke ,yet they are.The whole thing comes down to the golden rule...those with the gold rule !! The rich "the real rich" old money want everyone who isn't them to live in poverty or near poverty so there easier to control. Cheap or free entertainment has been used since the Roman empire to subdue the populace ,sound familiar ? We get $60 dollar video games,$15 dollar movies. They hook you on prescription drugs, with crap food that gets you fat and outta shape and in turn makes you need more drugs. It all comes down to control !! they wanna control you without really controlling you :)

So what beats that control you speak of? Education. But to think there wont always be a controlling class is ridiculous in a way. People wont ever be equal, we're just not that way.

I'm not against democracy, I just don't believe in a utopia where no one will attempt to take advantage of others, it's what humans are good at. As long as there is a way to "be better than someone else" people will do it. Why else would you need a $150,000 car or anything along those lines unless it was a race to some imaginary finish line and you just had to be better than everyone else.

Your right as long as men rule other men they will lead them to there own destruction ..time for Skynet?

There's nothing wrong with Walmart The Teamsters couldn't fix. Seriously, I like their prices but hate the cluttered, chaotic, claustrophobic shopping experience. However, I use to LOVE Kmart, back in the day It was actually Fun shopping there.

A local Kmart just recently closed down and I'm disappointed by that because I was hoping to go there one more time, but the last time I was there, place was dirty as a motherf***er.

Those prices you like would be ruined by Teamsters.

I haven't been in or seen a Kmart that wasn't all trashy, no clue why they can't afford to have people come in and buff the floor on a nightly basis.

fortunately, there is a Kmart near my home that is actually moderately clean and the service staff is surprisingly helpful. there is even still a blue light that flashes to tell me what aisle to rush to for the specials!

Kmart and Montgomery Ward were awesome stores back in the day.

Apparently Walmart is losing business to dollar stores these days, so it might not be the worst idea to up the ante on a more quality shopping experience. As for my local Kmart, they had lots of product on the floor that was still on the palette. It's not hard to see why this store closed down specifically. Shame for me though, because I was hoping they'd have some WWE dvds since they have the "Fan Central" partnership going. Of course, I also missed out on the store closing sale. Really should've taken advantage of that.
