....I like to play games. Good games. Looks to me like the consoles on the market have good games and will continue to offer good games in the coming years.

I don't get paid to game. I game for entertainment...to relax after a long day at work. To escape the harsh realities of the world.

To me, fanboys seem pretty pathetic. Somehow they take pride if their console does something better than another, yet they refuse to acknowledge not every console is the best at everything and their pick has some deficiencies too.

How can they claim to be hardcore gamers when they take pride in missing 1/2 the exclusive AAA titles released on the "other guys" consoles?

What is their end game? If their console "wins" - what do they "win"? Bragging rights? I can't fathom bragging about Justin Bieber selling the most records, but somehow selling the most = the best? Does it somehow justify only owning 1 console and missing out on all the games coming out on the others?

I know fanboys get ragged on a bit, yet they don't seem to realize how absolutely ridiculous they look to most who just like to play games...all the best games on all the systems. It's my sincere wish that all who enjoy gaming to save their pennies to buy all the consoles so they can enjoy ALL the games...because they are gamers first and foremost and gamers play games.

...I like to eat pizza. Good pizza. Looks to me like the pizza parlors on the market have good pizzas and will continue to offer good pizzas in the coming years.

I don't get paid to eat pizza. I eat pizza for consumption...to relax after a long day at work. To escape the harsh realities of the world.

To me, fanboys seem pretty pathetic. Somehow they take pride if their pizza parlor does something better than another, yet they refuse to acknowledge not every pizza parlor is the best at everything and their pick has some deficiencies too.

How can they claim to be hardcore pizza eaters when they take pride in missing 1/2 the exclusive pizzas baked at the "other guys" pizza parlor?

What is their end game? If their pizza parlor "wins" - what do they "win"? Bragging rights? I can't fathom bragging about Lil Caeser's selling the most pizzas, but somehow selling the most = the best? Does it somehow justify only owning 1 pizza and missing out on all the pizzas coming out at the others?

Big, big pizza fan here. Going to get pizza tonight, actually.

A few fanboys make a forum interesting, and I suppose they come with the territory. I do find it hard to understand how devoted to "the cause" they can be, though. Not sure what they are fighting for, really. If it is to convince others, they don't seem to succeed, most of the time (in fact probably make their "side" look stupider, more petty, etc.).

Be sure to come back tomorrow and disparage all the pizza joints you didnt go to as it will make your pizza taste better.

At some point I just started to avoid flamebait threads. It's always the same people and same discussions there.

Being a mostly Xbox/PC player, though, it's quite amusing to see some people who has to be assured that they have DA POWER with PS4 compared to inferior Xbox and its gamers. I just let them enjoy their pointless victory and try to run a few more laps on Forza 5.

Couldn't have said it better Oblong and DarkPassenger's pizza analogy was awesome. You could fill in the blanks for just about anything that people argue over. It's apples and oranges. Some people like apples, some people like oranges but it doesn't matter what you like because it all serves the same purpose.

People who can't enjoy all consoles and games are truly sad. It's okay to be a fanboy, it's okay to show enthusiasm more towards one company or console but it's not okay to completely bash a console and its fans that you don't support. Get your head checked immediately if you're one of those people.

It's just the way humans are. Nothing you can do about it. It isn't something that is ever going to "die out" or "go away" It will always be there until the end of time. You need to learn to live with it by ignoring it.

Personally i find it amusing and i do join in on the debates every once in a while. But most of the time i just stay away because it's just not worth the energy.

Yup, to me the console war is just entertainment at the end of the day. Some take it too far and it gets out of control but it's nothing anyone should lose sleep over. There's bigger problems in the world. Some people just love competition and there's nothing wrong with a healthy debate.

I discovered 2 typical kind of fanboys here. One that take every chance to bash the competition, there is one in particular that stand out, which I do not think I need to clarify. Actually I can think of 2 now, the other is on the other side of the fence.

There is another type, that cannot take any negative, or somewhat negative things about their favorite consoles, some of them may even label anyone that post any non positive information about their favorite console as fanboys of the competitor.

I got occasionally labeled a Sony Fanboy for saying Sony PS4 sold better in Europe, & XBOX could do with a price drop or aggressive packaging, for instance, as well as make ONE available in more markets, or risk losing sales to Sony. Never mind that I bought 3 xbox games last month alone, & my last Sony console was PS2 (never own any of the portable). Think about it. If I do not care about MS being more successful in Europe/worldwide, why would I suggest that they should do a price drop to improve sales. Wouldn't I hope they continue to sell at this price, & let Sony gain even more ground?

Maybe some will argue my line of thinking is wrong. Why drop price when you are selling within target, or making money, for instance. I not necessary agree, but I can digest. But there is nothing fanboy about it, if so, I have a soft spot for xbox brand, otherwise, I would have join a PS forum instead.

The reality here is, you cannot have a civil discussion here about sales or hardware without getting fanboy backlash within a few posts.

Now, I totally understand that there are people who really do not care so much about hardware or sales, so I think its best to have dedicated Hardware & sales threads, & keep discussions of these topic (civil) over there, & keep other threads free from these comparison.

My 2 cents.

Definitely no fanboy, but I don't have the time for many games so I have to decide between PS4 and XboxOne. Went 360 last Gen, probably PS4 WiiU this Gen.

I think, you are like me, & many others, that may used to be hardcore & owned every game consoles, & must play all the big games. But as we grow older, real life commitments gets in the way, & we have less time for games, hence more selective.

It doesn't make sense to own multiple consoles (unless you are hardcore) if you do not have so much time for gaming, much less, pay for 2 pay online services. Most of my friends (in mid 20s to 30s) are single console (plus the occasional PC) gamers last gen, & will be this gen. I think most people game on a single main console as well.

So in a way, comparisons of consoles may be useful for those on the fence, much like comparison for phones, or internet providers, to pick the ones that suit you the best.

The sad thing is many people get worked out, make fanboys remarks, when it comes to Console comparison.

No matter, my favorite platform is PC at the moment, & my last 4 games have been played on PC. Mainly adventure games, that I missed for the past 1/2 decades or more.

I agree. I don't have the time or commitment to get both this gen so I made my decision to get one over the other based on price, exclusives basically and it just so happens the multiplatforms are currently also better on the PS4 this gen. Unless the Xbox One gets a price drop coming in the future, doubt I will get it since some of its exclusives are also on PC.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying one console or brand more than the other, or feeling like you made a good decision. Where it becomes assgobliny is when you decide to take that and try to tell other people what they should feel. I'm in with Xbox, kind of have been since the OG Xbox, and it doesn't affect my life one whit whether Elbonia and Upper Buttcrackistan sell more PS4s or XB1s, or whether the pixelflopz and megafeelz support one side or the other. I had a nice run with Sony in the PS1 days, got my son a PS2 and if I had more time I'd probably pick up a 3 and 4 and enjoy their games as well. Play what you want, let others do the same, and don't eat the yellow snow.

People want to justify their purchasing decisions, it psychologically makes them feel better. If cold hard facts prove that one console is weaker than the other, then the owners of the weaker console will lash out and defend their purchase to the death because they don't want to mentally feel they made a poor purchase decision.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to preference.
