Free KZ MP map launched called "The Canyon"

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/05/14/free-killzone-shadow-fall-map-canyon-launches-today/

Today sees the arrival of ‘The Canyon’, the latest freely downloadable multiplayer map for Killzone Shadow Fall. Situated deep within one of the Petrusite fissures scarring planet Helghan, The Canyon is all that remains of the once-stately palatial quarters in the city of Pyrrhus.

Held in place by struts and bridges, this precariously balanced range of rock and crumbling infrastructure now serves a new purpose for the Helghast. Enormous mechanical pumps pierce the cityscape, syphoning the Petrusite that seeps up from the fissure to the surrounding mining spires.

The Canyon includes plenty of tight spaces for tense close-quarters combat, as well as more open areas that require quick thinking and sharp shooting. Players preferring a stealthy approach will want to use the narrow routes on the extremes of the map – just don’t get to close to the edge, because it’s a long way down!

Unique amongst all existing maps for Killzone Shadow Fall, The Canyon also introduces a new gameplay element to the multiplayer mix: gravity wells. Consisting of anomalous spaces where the planet’s gravity field is severely distorted, these wells allow players to ‘fall’ upwards to quickly reach different areas.

We’re excited to hear what you think of this addition to Killzone Shadow Fall’s expanding multiplayer map lineup. As always, the map is available free of charge.

Still waiting to play with blue :(

Blue hasn't played Killzone in some time. I play it all the time though.

COOP announcement should be coming Friday or Thurdsay evening (PST). The new map is solid - more of your should play if you have interest in this thread still.

ok I tell you I'm really f***ing hating the SP of this game. The game can just get f***ing cheap. I must have dead 20 god damn times on the level where you fall throw the god damn fan blades or whatever the f*** that s*** was. I then go past that to the f***ers who have shields on them I got so pissed I just f***ing quit.

Tried on-line get in a game with not even full. I was not impressed it feels nothing like KZ3 online. I mean s*** with the SP and MP it's like a f***ing different company made the game.

Please let this be true. I'm still really interested in the co-op mode. I can see a lot of potential for that in this game.

Are you playing on normal? lol

I didn't have that much trouble.

got that f***er on easy but I can be dropped fast as s*** it seems. The game just does not feel like KZ3 that I loved.

Damn, you’re not the first I’ve read having trouble with the campaign. It wasn’t easy on the default difficulty setting but it wasn’t frustrating or hard either. I only had trouble in one area of the game where you have to defend your position for a while. I thought the campaign was a lot of fun but different strokes I guess.

Are you using the echo ability to reveal enemy positions and the OWL drone to help you out? That little drone saved my butt many times. Also, make sure you’re hacking the alarms so reinforcements don’t drop in to say “Hi”.

Top Dawg, have you thought that the problem was you? You just seem like a bad gamer by your ranting and raving.

Also if falling down that wind tunnel is hard for you.. you are going to hate the final free fall section.

Busterman, stay tuned tomorrow. I'll flood this waste of a time thread with some knowledge.

Nope they changed the style of the game from KZ3. The SP does not feel like KZ3 and the MP is just a s***ty COD wannabe now. I do not play a FPS to dodge s*** as I'm falling or floating in space I play them to shot MOFO's in the face. I mean first the whole got to dodge the trains running then the spanning blades of a reactor you had to power up then free fall BS with fan blades.

It seems like nothing more then lazy design to make the game longer.

This game is not a damn plat former it's a FPS.

Umm.. What? KZ3 was harder because there were more direct confrontations and giant set pieces. This game is built like the play style of Luger from KZ1. You really don't know what you are talking about. If you stop running around the levels acting like you can absorb any number of bullets, your frustration will abate. Patience, thoughtful gaming and you will succeed. I stand by my original comments. And the multiplayer is not like COD.

And platforming in a FPS is really fun. I used to trick jump in q3a and Mirrior's Edge is a classic.

Building momentum is something many FPS do not know how to create. Killzone does it, even Halo 4 did it. Modern Shooters ignore this. Now I am ranting for nothing, lol.

KZ4 is a thinking mans game. lol You can't just keep running forward to force a checkpoint and progress the level (COD style). Anyways, ignoring your strange difficulty at playing through KZ.. lol

intercept adds online co-op action to killzone shadow fall
By Victor Zuylen on May 15, 2014 11:09:31 AM
Today we’re pleased to announce Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept, the next big DLC expansion pack for Killzone Shadow Fall. Slated for a June release, this pack adds a brand new, four player online co-op mode to the game.

Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept places you and up to three of your friends on the elite VSA team known as Intelligence Squad Alpha. Operating behind enemy lines, your team is on a mission to intercept and relay Helghast military transmissions back to VSA headquarters. To succeed, you’ll need to keep Helghast interlopers at bay long enough to establish a Hacking Uplink and transmit the data. Thankfully, the members of your team have all been trained in unique Combat Roles – from close-quarters Assault and mid-to-long range Marksman roles to supportive Medic and Tactician roles.

To successfully fend off the enemy and transmit the intel back to HQ, teamwork is absolutely essential. Your Team Score indicates how close you are to establishing a Hacking Uplink; increase it by defending your Uplinks from Helghast capture attempts, or by “banking” the Personal Score you’ve accumulated from kills, ability uses and recaptures. You can even earn bonuses such as artillery strikes and jetpacks! Always be on your guard, though: if you lose an Uplink to the enemy or have to respawn after critical injury, your Team Score will incur a penalty. If all members of your team are dead and your Team Score is too low to allow respawning, the mission is a failure.

Just like the members of Intelligence Squad Alpha, the AI-controlled Helghast enemies in Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept have their own sets of goals and Combat Roles. They will switch up tactics and angles of attack when they capture an Uplink, so you’ll need to adapt your defense strategy accordingly. On top of that, the enemy can call on special Helghast champions with unique abilities, based on key Killzone Shadow Fall characters. Expect to go up against some very familiar faces…

Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept comes with four arena maps inspired by locations from the single player campaign, and launches this June. It will be available for free forSeason Pass holders. A standalone version of the co-op experience will also be available later this year. We’ll have more in-depth information on Combat Roles, maps and tactics for the co-op mode in the coming week, so stay tuned to Killzone.com!

Comes out in a month. Enjoy!

It took longer than I expected but I'm glad we finally have some info on the co-op mode.

For some reason, I was thinking they were adding co-op to the campaign. I guess that would f*** up the story line.

ah finished the game man this game just sucked all types of donkey balls. The game was far to hard as even on easy the bad guys could snpae you form across the level. The pace it seemed to want to to play at was slow as s***. I mean damn. The deaths from the dumb ass free fall levels the BS getting hit by moving trains and some damn power thing in the space level.

Game never really made it clear WTF you needed to do or where to go. The MP is just a cheap ass COD clone nothing like it was in 3. Game was short levels just seemed like you were in a box.

I paid for a damn FPS not a FPS Metal Gear. What a huge disappointment wasted 45 bucks on this game.

The guy you played as most of the game shot dead in a f***ing movie and the final crap level you have to stealth in and you don't even aim the last f***ing shot

Damn, sucks you didn't enjoy it. I'm surprised you completed it because it sounds like you hated the game and still soldiered on. I thought the fact that the campaign wasn't like your typical linear shooter was its greatest strength. I guess I'm tired of shooters that feel like they are on rails with tight spaces for firefights.

I hope to see you online for the co-op mode.

To add to earlier comments. Top Dawg, you are a terrible gamer and should probably change your name.

oh no looks like we got a gamer with a big e-penis here guys. we better back our asses up. I may be a terrible gamer really don't care got way more important things to do with my time or to even care about. I play games to have fun and relex not be all like oh man I so beat that hard boss I'm so cool.

I am with you Topdawg. I have played my fair share of games, and I am finding this to be one of the hardest ones I have played, even on an easier level. I don't see why others need to be rude or disrespectful about it.

He is using the games 'absurd' difficulty to lash out at it. All you have to do is hide when you start bleeding out, regenerate and then come out of cover and make sure to aim at your enemies, because they don't have absurd levels of health, a few clean shots should drop everyone. His multi-player analysis is an incoherent rant.

Those free fall sections. That final section where you have to fly through the crumbling buildings as you descend to new Helghan. I wish that level went on auto-pilot. One of the worst designed set pieces. The free fall section after the train where you have to climb the rope to that troop carrier, so obnoxious how easily you can clip buildings and then have to reset the encounter. Frustrating is a way to describe it.

well my mean issue is the huge departure from the play style of the last two games. I loved I mean f***ing loved that first outdoor level after that game went to s***. OH lets put you in a room and just throw a s*** ton of Helghast in there with you who can seem to shot you right in eyes from across the damn level even on easy. oh hell this is a FPS so lets throw in some BS you see in plat formers like falling levels getting killed by moving trains and other moving crap.

Hell lets throw in a boss in there who has a shield around him who can take f***ing 10 missile shots and yes I had the f***ing missile gun thing and shot him 10 plus times with it while we're at it to make the game longer. Lets make a level with huge walking tanks that can damn near one shot you and make you sneak around like a bitch in a FPS where you just want to shot s*** in the face. Hell lets make the last level just something you sneak through and the final shot you take in the game not even something you aim yourself. Hell while we're at it lets speed up the MP from what it was in KZ2 and 3 and turn it into a s***ty COD clone. Yeah that's is the ticket.

I mean who wants a KZ game that you know plays like a god damn KZ game.

You just have to watch the lights on the platform to avoid the trains man. I don't know which room that you are talking about. Are you speaking of the final encounter before Stahl? That room was stupid, but I found a way around it. The door the enemies rush in from, if you go outside with them - you can control the rate of spawning.

Hell lets throw in a boss in there who has a shield around him who can take f***ing 10 missile shots and yes I had the f***ing missile gun thing and shot him 10 plus times with it while we're at it to make the game longer.

That is why you destroy his drones and then attack him. Also, you can get a Gatling Gun and it makes short work of him if you use your droids stun blast and unload, he is dead before you know it.

Lets make a level with huge walking tanks that can damn near one shot you and make you sneak around like a b**** in a FPS where you just want to shot s*** in the face.

That last part where you are running across the gap in the wall separating Vetka and New Helghan.. lol

Killzone Shadow Fall did not depart or play different than past games. This campaign is just how Luger played in Killzone 1, slow and steady. Then for part 2 and 3, they went for the grand set pieces and intense battles. There is no 'war' going on at this time so those kind of encounters would not have made sense. Maybe in the next Killzone? Hopefully we get to play as the Helghast finally.

The multiplayer is faster but it has not been turned into COD. I could play with you and help you adjust but I doubt you would give me the chance. I could probably answer anything you were confused or annoyed about.

Also I don't know if you ignored my earlier posts. There is COOP DLC (that can be purchased stand alone if you decide to dump your game) and IGN wrote an informative piece on it. They said next month, hopefully it is more towards the beginning and less towards the end.
