Figured I could post this either in the A&E or here, but thought it might get noticed a bit easier here.

Anyway, over the past few months I've been working on an Android Game that I am hoping to release by the end of the summer, and then port to iOS. I've got a pretty much working game, but there are still some assets that I need done.

About the Game:
I don't want to give too much information out about the details in this public thread, but if you're interested I can tell you more about it via a Private Message. However, what I can say is the game will be free. Not open source, but free. The game is 3D, and would be classified as turn-based mulitplayer (think words with friends.. this is not a words game though).

What I'm looking for:
  • The game is 3D, but I'm looking for 2D art.
  • PNG format images. I'll need probably a 64x64 version and 32x32 version of every asset and a 512x512 version of all but one. More details can be given about sizes if you decide you'd like to work on it.
  • 6 assets. 3 "Power Ups", 2 "Items", and 1 "Coin"

How the art will be used:
  • Heads up display in game
  • Art will represent in game items that you can buy, so when players are in the in game store they will see the art there.
  • The "Coin" is in-game currency used in the store.

What's in it for you:

The overwhelming joy of helping a good guy! But seriously though, as far as payment goes I really don't have much to offer, but if you're adamant about getting payed we can talk about it. I'm definitely not opposed to paying a little bit, but I am just hesitant in how we would exchange the money. But what I definitely CAN promise is your name will go in the credits along with whatever other information you'd like added (website, linkedin url, etc).

If anyone is interested, please let me know as soon as you can. I'm the farthest thing from an artist and this is the only part that is holding me back from being satisfied with my game at the moment. I don't really think this would end up being too much work.

I can draw, or I think I can. Send me a PM if you can.

If was talk about consept art I could have helped you, 2d art however, I use very long time on (I`m lazy )

If you can make the 3D, you can make 2D from 3D as well.

Well if you saw my game you'd know why that may not be true in this case, but in general I'd say you're probably right. Looks like I've got some help now though :)

Good to know you got help already. Looking forward to see the game when its ready.

Not even a screenshot to share? :) ?

Just a quick question. Its for PC or mobile?

It's for mobile. Right now it's Android, but I'm hoping that I'll port it to iOS too, just not sure if I want to release it on Android and then port it later or get both done and launch simultaneously.

As for the screen shot I'll definitely share some more on the game here soon, it's getting to a point where it's actually almost done.

Hey Zack, I had an idea for your next game.

I love the idea of Project Spark. But...it's kind of generic in terms of gameplay. I was thinking how cool it would be to have a similarly structured game but in all 2D. Create your own levels and worlds. Create your own art assets. It could be the next big thing.

I only want 50% of the profits. :p

I agree, that is a good idea. Might be a bit out of my league though. This game I'm creating has a very simple concept both in terms of graphics and gameplay; that's the only reason I took it from more than a random idea that popped into my head one night to an actual game. Plus, being a programmer anyway I knew that mobile was big and this gave me a reason to enhance my skills/resume :)

You can download Unity. Its free as long as you do not release the game. Terms & condition you can see on their website. There are tonnes of tutorials, documentation & resource, including sample games (for a small price).

If you have further question, I suggest speak with 'DLC' member here. He knows more.

UDK used to be free, but I do not think you can download again, or maybe you can. UE4 is $19 per month, but its mainly for 3D stuff. Unless you can make 3D game asserts, hiring a 3D artist is gonna cost you serious money.

My point is, if you have an idea, & wanted to get into game development, might as well jump straight to a real development tool. Of course, Project Spark is suppose to be some sort of development Lite, so you can give it a shot to see if its something you wanted.

What programming languages you know. By any chances you know Flash & Scaleform or know people that do? I am looking for people to help with some menu/interface design, so I can concentrate on assert making.

So you are a programmer turn game developers. I am hobbyist 3D artist turn wannabe-developer. Maybe we can have some collaboration in future.

However, I am no programming noob, but I never do programming professionally, only for fun during collage days, & a few small windows projects I did during my internship & school project(mainly using Visual basic)

Some of my more recent work, which include Christmas card

& Fanart. I have some requests for Lara in 'artistic' poses at the official TR site, & I maintain I will consider but only if its actually artistic & modest.

One idea of Lara behind a waterfall, with mist covering the vital is fairly decent, even comes with a pencil sketch in my PM. But unfortunately I decided I wanted to start making my own game. But who knows. When I need a little break. :)

Wow man that art is really good; very impressive.

I know quite a few programming languages, Java, PHP, JavaScript, C#, C, Python, etc. I'm "professional" in ActionScript and Java though. We use it at work. So I actually do use Adobe programming language (ActionScript) in the form of the Flex framework regularly, but I don't actually know much about the Flash aspect of it at all. I'm actually much better with Java even though most of the time I'm doing ActionScript at work. That's why I tried my luck with Android seeing as that is done in Java (even though some Android game development could be done in C if you use the native SDK).

Thanks.

Flash cc use actionscript 3. To make my job harder, they remove actionscript assistance in cc (gods know why), so there is absolutely no auto code finishers for you. SO you have to type every code without mistake. You only find out if you make spelling mistake when compile.

Not helpful at all, especially when you are learning. The hard part is not just to learn, but I also have to spend time making game asserts & other stuff. I do not want to spend 3 months on flash & Actionscript 3 just to make some menus, but I will see how it goes.
