Everyone can still have an opinion about it though. Free speech. Not to mention streaming has introduced a whole different way of experiencing and interacting with video games. Many may have watched their favourite content creators complete the game on YouTube or twitch live or not.
Can the POTUS be criticized only by other ex Presidents since only they have completed their presidency period ? Or is the public allowed to form their own opinions based on the facts and news from media outlets and what they see everyday ?
Honestly I don't think many really do care about that specific game they are likely just joining in with the online bashing because that's what people do these days. This all brings me to another point: why do rando gamers care so much about studio closures? Look at the % of people who actually beat Hi Fi Rush.

I feel like using achievement percentages to declare it bombed would have been reacted to very differently before this news and either way it doesn't make MS look any better. They didn't have to greenlight a sequel. They should be able to take a studio that can put out a high quality game and make it work.Watching a stream isn't even close to supporting the game.
Publishers aren't going to keep a studio going cause 1m watched someone else play.
Over 3m played it. Only 42k finished it. That's not a good look at all.
I would say that a shareholder has more interest in studio closures than rando gamers. Not disagreeing with you, but I'd add that anyone who is serious surely understands that there's a lot more to studio closures than critical acclaim. This is a multi billion dollar industry. Awards are meaningless.Honestly I don't think many really do care about that specific game they are likely just joining in with the online bashing because that's what people do these days.
I do think there is a legit reason to be upset about a company buying up all of these companies and then laying off a bunch of people over the last few months.
I never played HFR, it didn't appeal to me but it sounds like most people who played it enjoyed it. If they are going to keep saying things like "we need these smaller titles" and your head PR guy says it was a "success in every metric" then you turn around and close the studio who just gave you everything you said you wanted in that type of game it makes it look like you either don't mean what you say or you don't know what you are doing.
I'm talking about the things they said before the closures and layoffs happened. Greenturd said HFR was a success in every metric, Booty keeps saying these need these types of games, Phil talks about not wanting to stifle creativity as if MS is willing to just throw good money after bad so the developer can realize their artistic vision. It's all a lie, they need to make money or they are gone, especially with MS spending as much as the did buying Activision.I would say that a shareholder has more interest in studio closures than rando gamers. In terms of what leadership has been saying about the closures, they're under NDA and cannot disclose much of the inside baseball. So we consumers are left with nonsensical statements. Negative consumer sentiment has weight, but ultimately it is a numbers game.
Except if it was ROI on a past project that was the key issue they would’ve waited to see Switch sales to make the call. They clearly had no confidence in the next thing up.MS also said that the Zenimax leadership team was having trouble managing so many studios. In the interview, Sarah said it was a whole variety of factors they looked at. In the end though, If the game and studio output performed well and gave great ROI, I'm sure they wouldn't have done what they did because who in their right minds would voluntarily shut down their money making machine?

constantly spread negativity 24/7 about products they don’t even own
Doubt I post around here much anymore. PS fanboys who don’t even own XBox’s spend all their time trolling the MS/XB section. We all know why they do it. The gaming side of this forum has gotten worse and worse over the years. We can’t even come here and talk normal about things we enjoy and are interested in because fanboys want to constantly spread negativity 24/7 about products they don’t even own or companies they’re barely interested in only to troll and those that prefer them. To the few normal cool people left around here, later have fun.
I having a gaming Discord left that isn’t full of trolls that all just enjoy gaming no matter what they play on. Better than this place.
Fkin ShawnI think the the beginning of the Xbox One era, the internet went into this negative theme and realized that they could make money off it and never turned back.
That became a trend and still going strong, Unfortunately for MS, they were in the wave and stayed in that. They will never will get out of it either because it goes against the social media code for money.
That is all I see on Youtube and X, even here.
Someone on neogaf posted what his previous job was and he worked at Midway for 7 years and talked about reducing overhead/costs. It sounds like he's more of a cost manager than a person who really knows how to foster creativity and efficiency. That's going off of that one thing though, I don't know what other positions he may have had before.Booty seems to keep falling upwards.
But keep in mind Tim said the studio would have likely closed by now if not for MS.
