As movie audiences gear up for the next installment of The Hobbit, gamers now have their own Tolkien project to get excited about. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is on its way to a game screen near you on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we feel the upcoming game showcases some of the gameplay innovation potential now possible on next-generation consoles through its groundbreaking Nemesis System.

I read that the combat is more or less based on the Batman games. I say...bring it the fawk on then!!!!

Definitely looks cool. More in the LoTR universe is never a bad thing.

OOH GIRL!!! That's looking really f***ing sweet. However, I'd like me a new Hobbit game as well. Something similar to the one release two gens ago, but merged with the stylings of a Zelda game and the make-up of Peter Jackson's vision.

Clearly inspired by Assassin's Creed and Batman Arkham games with the detective/eagle vision and the executions, but looks quite promising.

If you asked me if I could dig it. I would totally say yes... I love LOTR, Game sounds really cool also.

After all of Jackson's toomfoolery they could make a game with lightsabers in Midlle Earth and I wouldn't complain...

I think the game looks great. Been keepin' tabs on it since the GI reveal when they said they took inspiration from Red Dead and the Batman games (2 of my favs this gen). That gameplay looks even better than I'd been expecting....

Well, I've enjoyed the AC games and I love LOTR so definitely looking forward to this!!

I quickly ended that..

are they using movie assets in the game because the orcs look straight out of the movies, but the barad dur and the Eye look very different.

Damn, i actually wanted an RPG a la Elder Scrolls style out of Middle Earth, game dosent look bad at all but im somewhat disappointed.

I really liked what I saw here, sure it would take inspiration from other games, but look at TF, COD shooting, jetpacks and mech. Those have NEVER been done right? Yeah, but the combination makes both games different.

looks OK that memory or whatever the f*** they was calling it does not seem a big deal and is some goofy bizz word.

IMO, it seems that would be harsh given this system is meant to make multiple playthroughs/encounters different. Judging it based on a singular moment is harsh.

It was the XBO version so criticism comes more ridged than Ruffles here....

It was also pre-alpha footage, so criticism is extra unfounded here as well. Frame rate will get polished up nearer the end of the development cycle, also it's a youtube vid, so lets not get going on a whole resolution debate just yet...

Ok. That looked awesome. I'm sold.

This is the first LoTR game that has me interested. It just looks f*cking great! Hope it turns out a success.

These development terms do not mean much today and there is nothing wrong with criticism of "Pre-Alpha footage".
