would that include atlus and Sammy?
It would if they bought Sega as a whole. It would also include Creative Assembly, Relic entertainment and Amplitude studios. That's a alot of studios. But not a liekly purchase. Microsoft's M.O. as of late is to buy small to middling developers and build them up. I don't see them changing that strategy. Especially given how expensive a Sega purchase would be.

If they do eventually acquire someone else think smaller.

Tomonobu Itagaki should have been head of Japan on Xbox and things would have been very different. We had the best Japanese games like DOA and Ninja Gaiden and now we have nothing.
How many good games has he made without Team Ninja/Tecmo?

Have solid games released without him?
Oh yes they have.

He's free to go make games for whoever he wants.

I get the middle devs schtick but I don't think that's their main initiative. I think they're open to buy who ever makes sense. Price isn't the real issue here. They could go big and buy a huge Dev house - if it makes sense. Its just as probable in my opinion.

I like this part:

“We’ve moved from acquisition mode to execution mode,” Spencer continued. “[We are] sitting here with 15 plus studios working on games. But it’s not about a logo parade, or ‘look at who we acquired this week’, but really about what games [the studios] are going to go build.
MS continues to beat the GAMES GAMES GAMES drum. Their Xbox Game Studios 2020 release schedule looks to be record breaking.
