Multiple ‘Metro’ Games Are Currently In Development

It looks like fans of the Metro franchise will have even more chances to roam the ruins of a post-apocalyptic Moscow in the near future. 4A Games, developer of the critically-acclaimed Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Night, has announced that there are more Metro games in the pipeline. Yes, more than one.
According to a press release on the 4A Games website, the studio “continues to work on unannounced titles within the Metro universe,” alongside “further, unannounced projects.” The games, based on the bestselling fiction of Dmitry Glukhovsky, have garnered a strong following, and 4A Games Creative Director Andrew Prokhorov said he was “proud of our achievements as a young studio, and humbled by the response to our output so far.”
The addition of a second 4A Games studio is likely to help the delivery of further quality titles, though. According to the same press release, 4A Games are also moving their headquarters from Ukraine to Malta, whilst keeping their current studio in Kiev, in an attempt to “expand their AAA development capabilities”.
“By basing our new headquarters in Malta, a member state of the EU, 4A Games will be able to better compete on the international stage,” said Dean Sharpe, Head of Business Development. “Malta offers fantastic incentives for game development, and we are confident 4A Games will be able to attract the very best talent from Ukraine, Malta and beyond.” Andrew Prokhorov and Chief Technical Officer Oles Shishkovstov will both relocate to Malta.
Until there are more details on the new Metro titles, at least we might have Metro Redux to keep us occupied. Deep Silver let us know in March that at least some of the rumors were true, and there could be a PC, Xbox One and PS4 makeover for the first two Metro games.
