It's a puzzle platformer set to a beautiful arctic backdrop. will contain 2player co-op aswell apparently. i had no idea of this games existence until i did recently had a check of the upcoming games..

Interesting info from wiki:

The game also known as Kisima Inŋitchuŋa was developed by Upper One Games in conjunction with the Cook Inlet Tribal Council, a non-profit organization that works with indigenous groups living in Alaska's urban areas. The Council met with video game education company E-Line Media and generated the idea for Never Alone as part of a series that "shares, celebrates, and extends culture". They built the game to explore "what it means to be human" and intergenerational stories. It is intended both to share the stories of native culture as entertainment, and to revitalize interest in Alaskan indigenous folklore. Proceeds from the game will fund the Council's education mission.[2]

E-Line creative director Sean Vesce was excited by the idea and challenge of leaving his cubicles where "a bunch of white guys" discuss fictional fantasies and instead work to build a game around a community's "values and mythologies". He had previously held leadership positions at Crystal Dynamics andActivision. They built a 12-member development team in Seattle, who worked with a group of Alaska Native community storytellers and artists to craft the game.

Didn't we have another thread on this somewhere? Either way, I think the game looks really cool. I'll be getting it for X1.

possibly. i tried searching for "never alone" but it said the words are too common/short to produce results

Looks really interesting. Terrible release date, though.

Yeah they chose the wrong release date, sad thing is it was moved from Nov 4 which was COD's release date lol. It looks like an awesome game and I love the concept of native people's stories being told through gaming so I'll be supporting/buying this for sure.

Still want to get this one. I'm sure it'll be no more than $15, so may just pick it up when it launches and play it whenever I happen to get to it.

Very cool looking game, but another November 18th release whats up with the 18th are their some gubment stimulus checks were supposed to be getting on that date or what ?

Looks great, I'll be picking this up for sure. It is a pretty bad release date though. Dec or Jan might have been better, when there's not much happening.

I'll be buying it on the 18th but honestly I doubt I'll get around to playing it for a few days/weeks at least.

can't find this on the store anywhere. are indie games usually put up so late/close to their release date ?

Never Alone's failings don't diminish its importance
Despite Never Alone’s failings, it’s an effective, important experiment in blending gaming and education for grown-ups and, as such, I find it hard to entirely dismiss. While I’m in no great rush to play it again, the appreciation I gleaned for a culture I knew practically nothing about is something I really cherish. If you can patiently plod your way through the game entwined with the story of the Iñupiat people, I suspect you’ll cherish them too.

7/10

Wonderful game and it was great co op with my daughter. Be forewarned, it is very short but a great experience. I think it took us less then three hours.

Eurogamer gave it 10/10. The reviewer is Native American.

"I've internalised complacency, this casual belief that there's no point in trying to keep traditions alive, because in a few generations they'll be lost no matter what I do. It's a mentality I've seen echoed a few times in games - the Ashlanders of Morrowind, the Krogan of Mass Effect. Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna in Iñupiaq) is different. Its very existence challenges me. Instead of eliciting self-pity, it stands in absolute defiance of everything that I've grown to be, not only telling me to be better, but showing me how."

He had a very personal reaction to the game, based on his heritage. I wouldn't expect that Joe Gamer (or Andy Gamer, for that matter) would have the same reaction. Still, it was nice to realize that the game is really impacting some people.

I concur Andy. But the game is only 3 hours?? :(

3 hours does seem a bit short, but on the other hand it's a game even I would probably be able to see through to completion.

you know if the co-op was available for online or do you have to be in the same room?

Could have sworn there was a thread for this, but I couldn't find it. So I'm making one. I'm playing this right now and the game is awesome so far. Very fun, atmospheric, visually compelling, and educational as well. It also boasts some co-op, but you can switch between characters if you go it alone. I'm only in the beginning stages of the game, but this is very well made from what I see.
