Next year's Assassin's Creed game will take place in London during the 19th century, Kotaku has learned thanks to an early leak. Farewell, Napoleon; hello, Jack the Ripper?

Wow. Fix your current, broken iteration before you stand there with your hand out.

I know, right? What are the chances of this game being broken upon release? I don't think that's even a question anymore.

I can't wait for the new release. Twice as beautiful at half the frame rate. The cinematic era is upon! Right, Ubi?

Well my wife and I are excited, this was the exact era that we hoped for. It's not like this is an official announcement with folks having problems with Unity. It was a leak. Luckily Unity ran fine for us, just a few hiccups.

At least CoD let their games cool down when they come out of the oven before asking if we want dessert.
Wasn't this a leak? I mean of course we knew that they were making a new one but for some reason I thought it wasn't an official announcement.

Could this be the first Assassins Creed game where the accents make sense?

Eitherway, I'd like to see more games set in England... But maybe not a Ubisoft game considering their current state.

Another one already? Okay, i like Assassin's Creed but come on. Can i play Rogue and Unity before you start talking about the next one..?

Oh well, less hate directed at CoD's annual release at least.

I like how most people's comments I've read online make it sound as if Ubisoft just announced this game, it was a leak so don't blame them. We know AC is an annual series so hearing a new one is coming is not a surprise but this wasn't an official announcement.

Well, I think Ubisoft should really reconsider their year. It was terrible. I think they should dedicate their time in fixing the bugs in Unity.

It shouldn't even be far enough along in development to get leaked is the point. Especially when Unity is a mess. You can't tell me it takes more than 6-8 months to develop one of these games when they release one every year. So why are they even working on the new one right now instead of worrying about the one they just released what, a couple weeks ago? It just shows where their priorities are.

Next E3: OOO,we invented this or that bullsh1t gameplay feature. Look at the preeetty colors.

Wake me up when they go to Japan or China. Until then,go f*** yourself with a cactus,Ubi.

Wait, do you really think they're throwing these games together that fast? (although, with the state of Unity I guess it's not that preposterous an idea, haha) For real though, Ubi Montreal has multiple teams. They work on multiple games at once, even multiple AC games within Ubi Montreal for a while (I think they started making AC 3 after AC2, brother hood & revelations were more iterative follow ups that didn't take as much time). This is just how leap-frog development works. Quebec has been working on Victory since before Unity came out with all it's issues (a lesson I hope they learn from before release, obvi...)

Ubi's Quebec studio has been working on Victory for more than a year though, I think they started not long after AC3, because the producer on that game is the head of the Quebec studio now... Montreal's AC team is (hopefully) fully dedicated to fixing unity as quebec is working on this....

These games are generally in development for several years and in Unity's case 4 years. Ubisoft has a ton of developers all over the world working on these titles, the credits for each AC game take forever to get through. I think the setting for the next game is great, hopefully it'll be more polished when it releases than Unity was, then again it's not a first year new gen title the way Unity is either so that should help with the development process. I hope they learn they don't need thousands of NPC's on screen at once, honestly they could have easily cut 1/3 of the NPC's out of Unity and it wouldn't have had any negative impact at all.

This is ridiculous.

It probably takes a solid 18-22 months to make a single AC game on current Gen consoles. They probably have two teams working concurrently, with many shared engineers and artists.

AC games are large in scope. No way it only takes 6 months.

Don't these games always get "leaked" way ahead of time? There's something fishy going on here.

But count me in. London here I come.

I am beginning to think it may be the same guy that leaked Unity. This was not the optimal time to announce a new one.
London should be amazing though. Hopefully they will revisit Arno again, I have enjoyed his character. In fact I periodically jump back in to play side quests, even though I beat the game. Paris is just amazing in this.
