Next Battlefield game…October 2025

Bet they make it more like COD.
One of their guys did an interview with Gamesradar and essentially blamed gamers for the failed heroes system. We didn't understand them was the issue, apparently.

Can't fix the problem without recognising the actual problem.

Maybe he was just talking about Americans not getting it?

I don't think EA is ever going to put the resources into it. The 2042 maps were massive and had nearly zero destruction. Huge chunks of them had no cover. The phrase "walking simulator" wasn't wrong.

There's a reason they took the time to rebuild every map.

I don't think that was their "vision" but just EA scrimping on resources.

2042 had a lot of problems, but at the end of the day, it felt scaled back.

Unless EA is going to go "all in" with studios and make maps with destruction, nothing will change. BF V could have been better had they actually gotten more content done.

They do seem to have a lot of fate in zampella…. maybe he’s bringing people in from his “og team”? I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s members of respawn that worked on battlefield, apex and or fortnite

2042 and BF5 weren't BF games. End of.

Not sure what this is for. Seems a bit OTT for BF2042 content. At least several "creators" got one.

They are moving to EA anticheat for 2042 as well. Sounds like 2042 isn't nearly as dead as people thought.

The problem is they need to throw resources into making a great AAA game. Run a scaled down budget and get a scaled down game.

(Insider Gaming) EA’s Next Battlefield will also have a Free-To-Play Battle Royale

The next Battlefield title is taking somewhat of a “back to its roots approach
- Tentative target release date of October 2025
- 64-player matches
- The return of its four-class system
- Overhaul its destruction systems
- Set in the modern-day around 2025 – 2030
- A strong story-driven emphasis on modern technology used in war

Ripple Effect's Studio is working on a new Battle Royale
- Developing a free-to-play Battle Royale title.
- Following Call of Duty: Warzone strategy.
- Brainchild of Byron Beede, previously leading live service for Call of Duty.
- Two game modes: classic Battle Royale and 'Gauntlet'.
- Gauntlet is an objective-based mode with the lowest scoring teams eliminated after each mission.

Hope it’s better than their last try at a Battle Royale mode.

I want destruction like their older games and back to better map design.

I feel these guys have burned too many bridges.

I used to get so pumped for a new BF game.

The big question for me is - is EA investing big time in the game? The past games struggled, mostly because they seemed to want an AAA game on an A- budget. 2042 felt (and still feels) scaled down because it was built with less resources.

I mean, people liked the battle royale game that launched around BF V, but they never did a thing to support it, and it just never got any traction. BF V itself might have done better if they had supported it.

I don’t even think it’s the same guys, many have come and gone? They recently lost Marcus Letho.
I know, but the blue print for a great BF game is right under their noses. Yet time and time again they ignore it. So the saying "back to the roots" means nothing as they clearly don't know what the roots are.

They have such an easy path to a great game too. Yet it never materialises.

They should’ve never tried to be more like COD in some ways and try to get some of their crowed. BF should’ve stayed its own thing it had experiences you couldn’t get with COD years ago.

This past release of BF and COD both have encouraged me to never buy another of either.

Exactly this. I pre-bought 5 and 2042 under this assumption, especially becuase I loved 3, 4, and 1 so much.
Apparently they were on track to 'expand on the roots' with 2042 but the suits wanted them to make it more like COD, which is why a lot of the OGs left early in development.
I still believe they can deliver a great game because as you said 'the blueprint' is there. But I definitely won't be pre-buying again.

I put my least amount of time in a BF ever with BFV and the newest one. I also really liked BF3, BF Hardline, BF4, and BF1. Put a lot of time into BF1 when I got my One S BF1 edition that came with the game. Pre-ordered BFV was hyped then I lasted a few weeks then would only come back every now and then.

If they wanna make something like COD they should release the BF Hardline series in the Off years of the main BF game. I’d like them to do another Hardline game as a spin off series.
