Cheques will be cut for sure. I just don't see any reason why it would be any different to previous generations.
I mean, "a LOT" of complaints over the other console getting a disproportionate number of exclusives? Why would either console get this huge payload this gen and not previous gems?
Why would people complain? The majority of console owners get their consoles after the library looks good. Early adopters might complain, but I'd say a lot of early adopters have or will have both consoles anyway.

Yeah, the "complain' thing came from someone else (edit: jsgiv). He's just speculating or predicting. A lot of people speculate and predict stuff. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out. Personally, my prediction/speculation is that MS buys up some exclusives, PS4 owners will respond in a lot of different ways:

- minimize the value of the game (it's not that good, not that big a deal, past its prime, whatever)
- talk about how MS is "money hatting" to gain an unfair advantage
- accept it, though they don't like it (every one-console owner misses out on some games; that's just the way it goes)
- buy an X1 because they really love the game (the MS-approved option)
- anger and/or complaining because they no longer have access to the game
- shrug their shoulders because it wasn't their style of game in the first place

Same ways they've responded in previous generations, as you said. Some will complain, some will shrug, etc. I agree with you, it's not going to be much different this time around.

Complain prediction/speculation is from me..

You've outlined a better explanation.. :)

Guys, this thread is for pointless bickering about sales numbers; it's not for pointless bickering about resolution numbers.

In other news...I flipped a coin 5 times this morning and it showed heads 5 times.

I have thereby reached the conclusion that a coin only has one side. /truthfact.

Picked up my ps4 yesterday to go along with my xbox one at Walmart here in Powhatan Virginia. They had about 12 in the case. And of course I was not complaining. They had two xbox one's in the case as well. You can call the store if you desire.

Impossible the internet doesn't lie.

You did not. What are the odds of that? Someone do the math. I'm too lazy and haven't had my coffee yet. Yes, I know I'm missing the point.

edit: I think the odds are 1 in 32. About 3%.

Yes, I know I'm still missing the point, lol.

I believe it's 1/32. Of course, that's not the point...the point being drawing conclusions based on a very small data sample. ;)

Ah. That's what we specialize in here.

Well, it only took a little under a minute to find out Soldier95b was lying... You know for all the heated arguments we have had on here, none of this s*** is worth lying about.

Each time they took the wind inside the dome.

In other news why is there an argument over console sales? I'm not surprised xb1 is selling strong for now but PS4 is cheaper and should win out in total sales. On top of this who cares?

MS needs the exclusives to keep rolling in the 1st year. It is roughly the reverse of what happened last gen but MS has some 1st year exclusives to an attempt @ keeping the gap close. In the end if ps4 sales hit 90mill and xb1 hit 60mill it is a win for console gaming.

LOL, I was able to take on a part time job, earn enough to buy a 2nd competing console plus a full library of games, and beat them all in the time these guys spent arguing over which one is better. :p

I do notice that we spend a lot of time arguing sales, resolution, etc., and very little time talking about the games we're playing. Seems odd. Maybe it's just the drought, I dunno.

I work for geek squad and I can tell you that this is never update correctly, we get pallets of both system and they are sold as soon we put them up. Also they are many returns on both which I have to do a certified to make sure there was not fault to the companies that made them. I think people not used to the new system and then they try something and they get bricked. Most of them also come back on PS4 because people still didnt know that you have to pay now to play online. So instead they end up with a PS3.

Currently playing thru AC4, Max, Lego Marvel, Forza 5, and BF4...

Most likely will get either Ryse and/or TR until TF comes out...

Yeah for all the sky is falling on MS crap that gets put out you'd think more people would have known about this important change with the PS brand.

Listen I was a bit shocked but then again these are people who are trying to go the cheap route.

Its a game drought period for many. I have a backlog of games, but I am not in the mood for games. Playing too much last couple of weeks, on PC.

Talking about sales & resolution is not as meaningless. Had people do not bitch about the DRM, you think MS will reverse on it. Had people not complain about Kinect, will they make it optional for use. I can go on.

I think developers also now realize people are unhappy with sub 1080p resolution, & they will think twice before releasing game with lower resolution, & MS maybe maybe also become more involve to resolve this.

Sale, while mainly pointless, does give us an idea when a price drop will happen, for instance.

Oh I get it. That was a big plus PS had over MS in some countries more then others. Probably the main reason ps3 sold so well with the price gap.

At target last night - saw 2 ps4s and 3 X1s...

Not really sure why you keep posting these meaningless links to these sites... stock flows in and out of stores at variable rates. Depending on how good/ solid the counts are.. at best they might be 25% accurate a day out of a full week..

Ummmm, it proves they were able to stock over a million more and still be in more demand than XB1, which are sitting on shelves.

Except the stock is for US only and Sony did not sell a million more in US alone.

I think developers also now realize people are unhappy with sub 1080p resolution, & they will think twice before releasing game with lower resolution.
In the grand scheme of things this problem is for a small % of console gamers it seems. Xb1 is selling out and the internet has pointed the resolution issue out an infinite amount more then a truly bigger change they may not know. Online gaming on PS4 isn't free like on PS3. When Titanfall hits nobody will care about the res issue and if halo5 hits @ 1080p 60fps the issue will be lazy devs launch hiccups with the esram.

Oh, I was being humorous with my remark about the thread being for "pointless bickering." I agree with you, sales numbers are relevant. I don't think they are quite as important as people make out, and I think the debate gets silly sometimes, but the subject itself is relevant. I am certainly paying attention to the numbers myself.

The thing that impresses me is how much more both of them are selling this generation, as compared to last -- about twice as much, in the same amount of time. Of course, that doesn't lead to debates, so it gets lost in the discussion. But I think it's very good news for the console market and for console gamers.

Not that it matters - AC4 is 900p..

Its been well established here that the PS4 has a "beefier" GPU than the X1.

Its also been well established that the X1 can run 1080p games and most likely, due to the core game/rendering engine and/or time to market, some games had to be adjusted to lower resolutions in order to get their product out on time (COD vs. BF4)....

This continued argument about resolution will mean absolutely nothing to the "average" consumer that decides to buy a game console for .... a game.. :)

I actually (finally) found 2 PS4s last night.. I have the money set aside to buy one. I came really close to buying one but I didn't - why? quite simply - no games out for it that I'm dying to play right now.

Unless a killer title comes out in the next several months.. ill most likely wait until Sony releases a bundle...

Games sell systems... both consoles have their killer titles coming out though it appears that X1 has a better lineup (at least imho) thru this year...

Actually, AC4 is 1080p with the latest patch, bump from 900p to 1080p with no performance hit.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-ps4-ac4-patch-analysed-in-depth

I'm sure studios will now attempt to churn out at least 900p games for multiplatforms for the Xbox One now since there was this wave of criticism across the internet.

edit: oops, maybe you meant AC4 is 900p on the Xbox One? If so, disregard my post.

Yeah this part is pretty cool probably because last gen started started 8 years ago. As far as being relevant it is for us a small % of the market as a whole.
