Outriders surpassed 3.5 million unique players in one month (average playtime : 31 hours), is expected to become Square Enix's "next major franchise"

Also Outerworlds sold over 3 million

What's the sales like on the Xbox with Gamepass?

Well in this case GP helped its sales.

From the Gamespot article: "The game hasn't likely sold 3.5 million copies, as Outriders is also available on Xbox Game Pass, but it's still a huge number and indicative of the strength and appeal of the game." Seems to imply GamePass doesn't help game sales but helps with boosting player numbers.

So GamePass helps with providing more people to test/play the game to see if they like it and when they're done with it, they just stop playing.

It was the top selling Xbox game when it released.

Outriders has a lot of technical issues, but I enjoyed my time with the game (50+ hours or so), & happy that the game does well in sales.

This is 1+ month old news.

Too bad. That is all there is. Still valid. You don't determine when news is irrelevant.

Trying to find platform specific numbers if they have released it. If they haven't yet, would like to know later if they do.

They haven't.

What we do know is that it sold well, sold well on Xbox and is also on Game Pass. The majority of gamers don't have Game Pass, so it makes sense. Not to mention, Game Pass INCREASES game sales, as confirmed by NUMEROUS developers as well as Microsoft. Great news for gamers around the world.

I wonder how many here from the Outriders thread actually bought the game on Xbox. Should be interesting to hear feedback there.

Whether you think it is a supply issue, or people just like PS5 more, MS needs to up their game. PS5 crashing Xbox series S/X 2:1.

In addition to PS being more popular in general globally, I'd say Sony was just more prepared and ready to make more of their new consoles so far this gen even though it's still not enough apparently as a lot of people are still trying to get one due to the shortage.

I am sure MS would like to have more available in supply. But you have to remember, while Xbox is the console and heart, they also have a vastly larger established audience, as well as a desire to grow that audience. Microsoft Windows PC. Dwarfs anything.

I have no doubt if both weren't suffering supply issues PlayStation 5 would still be quite a bit ahead of the Xbox series consoles mainly because PlayStation is just a much more popular brand globally but also because MS still hasn't released a new game for it yet and Sony already has several and will be adding another big one in a couple of weeks. Aside from the early adopters like most of us here who just have to have the newest and best consoles MS so far hasn't given anyone outside of that group a reason to think they should upgrade yet. We are also only 6 months into this thing so while I have no doubt Sony will always have a large lead MS could still do a lot better this gen than they did last gen.

As much as some would hope(me) or believe thus far its exactly like last gen with Playstation 2:1 Xbox.

I think MS needs to flood the stores with consoles as many who can't get Playstation 5 will get XSX and when word gets out how much it will cost to upgrade PS5'S storage many casuals will not be happy.

I have people I know who prefer Playstation who lost hope and now are aiming for a XSX with plans of a PS5 Pro down the road.
