Funny thing is selling games on xbox wouldn't have made much difference.

💯 because they just don't care for these types of games. Yet they don't buy it when it's available. Gamepass really changed the way some Xbox gamers look at new releases this gen.

Across Asia PS leads in every country at launch month, UK PS is leading too. We also know Sony tells us their average game sale is 70% digital so even with digital included there won't be too much of a difference considering the gap in sales between PlayStation and Xbox platform in the UK.

"So, when you put all of this into perspective, it’s safe to say Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion has exceeded expectations." The game was reported to sell well but yes it did not on Xbox.

You don't know what it sold on Xbox. Lol. Stop being a sad little fanboy for 5 seconds.

The last mainline FF on Xbox sold millions. Why would anybody on Xbox rush to get a remaster of short spinoff to a game SE screwed us with in FF7 Remake and all the other stuff they held from the platform. You reap what you sow.

Not that any of this matters because the fact remains the same. The SE exclusive BS is killing them. End of.

Yeah I agree, I just don't think most xbox fans care about Square Final Fantasy games. When square owned Tomb Raider that was probably the only game they had that a significant portion of xbox owners would be interested in. The last FF game that they launched day and date with the PlayStation 4 version sold just over a million copies while the PS4 version sold over 5 million, the PS4 sold a lot more consoles than Xbox One but it wasn't a 5-1 split. If it were a low budget indie style game a million copies could be considered a success but a tentpole franchise for a 3rd party? no that's not really all that great.

Microsoft did try in Japan nobody can say they didn't put in the effort but the interest just isn't there. They already have two home grown companies that make gaming systems so what incentive do they have to invest in a console owned by an American company?

Why’s that?
Because their userbase doesn't buy square's RPGs. As I said a couple of times in other posts FF15 sold over 5 million copies on PS4 and just over a million on Xbox One. If the game had sold 2.5 million on xbox these kinds of deals probably wouldn't happen but when you factor in the cost to port to two more consoles vs what you get in return it's probably an easy choice to just say no.

Yup. The only way it's worth it now is if MS does a Gamepass deal of some sort like Persona otherwise it appears the Xbox sales have been decreasing compared to last gen as seen by the current multiplatform SE titles.

I bought it, twice, both the regular and chibi version 😆

What about on PC? With all its variants wouldn’t the cost be even more?

And those numbers, wouldn’t they just reflect the user base for both consoles? If there’s twice as many PlayStations then they’d sell twice as many games?
Even their non main games like ff strangers of paradise get resealed day one with pc, ps5, ps4, Xbox s/x and one

Sold 10 million, you pleb.

Seems like the trend is not limited to just Japanese RPG games...

They selected 30% of PS applicants to play, and 69% of them participated.
They selected 26% of PC applicants to play, and 68% of them participated.
They selected 65%(!!) of Xbox players and only 24% of them showed up.

Even when they get massive preferential treatment they don't support the games.

In Europe digital + physical sales of Street Fighter 6 was only 12% for the Xbox too.

Is it just me or do Sony Bros remind you of MAGA’s. They think their side is the best, the other side is evil, they defend their side no matter what they do, and live in a fantasy land in their head. If the shoe fits…

PlayStation 5 titles maintained their stronghold of the UK physical charts for the second week running.

Summer sales and continued price-promoted bundles have resulted in more first-party PS5 titles rising to the top, GfK reported.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which was bundled with the PS5, climbed from No. 6 to claim the No. 1 spot with a 116% rise in sales. It moved FIFA 23 down to No. 2 with a 11% drop week-on-week.

God of War: Ragnarok climbed from No. 13 to No. 6 following a 79% increase in sales, while Spider-Man: Miles Morales jumped from No. 25 to No. 7 with a 113% rise. Gran Turismo 7 moved from No. 21 to No. 8 with a 114% sales increase.

Meanwhile, Pikmin 4 dropped to No. 9, with sales down 38% week-on-week, while last week's new release Remnant 2 fell to the bottom of the charts at No. 40, with a 47% decrease in sales.

Elsewhere, Ghost of Tsushima: Directors Cut has re-entered the charts at No. 33 after a 73% spike in sales, followed by the Dark Souls Trilogy at No. 39 with a 32% increase in sales.

Here is the GfK Boxed Top Ten for this week ending August 5, 2023:

This WeekTitle
1Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Less than 10% and this is better than what tomb raider did?

They have explained time and time again... based in the context of available PS5 userbase, it has performed in line with expectations. They also business expensed the development cost in 1Q statements so any further sales are categorized as in the green.

I see long legs for the title as the generation goes on IMO.

I believe the director also said they have a 18 months plan to monitor and update the game as required to boost gameplay experience.

Could he be more optimistic because he’s got a new boss/ceo

I think it's more like as the gen goes on, the larger the installbase will be so they are not concerned. Not to mention it's coming to PC next year so more revenue growth there possibly.
