Opinions on Bioshock Infinite?

Come on MW. No it wasn't. I'd say it's nearly as good as the first Bioshock. Bioshock 2 was worst of the three, obviously because Ken Levine wasn't involved in the development.

I'd 100% agree with this.

I'd say, Bioshock > Infinite > Bioshock 2. And it's VERY close between Bioshock 1 and Infinite.

Okay, System Shock 2 > Bioshock (any of them).
With that out of the way...

Combat: B2 > B1 > BI
Although combat is tighter in BI then either of the rapture games it pales due to the fact that it doesn't really allow for much creativity in encounters. In the first two games you had so many choices that you could do a hundred different things each time you engaged in combat, in BI you had 2 weapons and your plasmids, meh.
Story: B1 > BI > B2
Andrew Ryan > All other big bads. B2's characters were mostly forgettable, if fact even having playing through it roughly 20 times I can't remember the names of ANY of them, not even the main protagonist. Meanwhile in Bioshock there's Ryan, Sander Cohen (such an amazing bad guy) and Fontaine. In BI the only stand out bad guy is Cornelius Slate and I think I only dig that character because the voice actor (Keith Szarabajka) is the actor who played Daniel Holtz on Angel, another really good bad guy.

I finished Bioshock 1, am still in the middle of Bioshock Infinite and haven't really wanted to finished it but that may have something to do with GTA V.

I honestly think it was this gen's best story. I couldn't go to sleep after I finished it. I loved the gameplay, but I'd like to have more opportunities to use everything.

I loved the game's story, and the gameplay was good enough to prevent me from bailing out. I suppose it really just depends on preferences - I've never gotten into GTA, for example, because I don't really ever feel like giving a crap about any of the characters and without something more to keep me going, a sandbox is just a sandbox. Meanwhile the AC series' story for whatever reason got me involved, though after the events of III and the continuing relegation of the story to flavor text rather than a first class part of the game, I'm not sure I'm going to keep going with that. I'd encourage playing BS:I, though, but there'll be some people for whom it resonates greatly and others who'll see it as a decent-ish shooter with a nice background and not a whole lot new to add gameplaywise.

I'm surprised how many people rave about the BI story. I went in completely spoiler free and found the story way too predictable.

I agree with @IdleHands that Combat: B2 > B1 > BI but feel that BI's story was the weakest of the 3.

Well, I bought a copy for $20, so even if it sucks, no big deal.

I just bought this on Games on Demand. I am looking forward to playing it. Though I still need to finish Bioshock 1 yet :(

B2 is more linear, especially at the beginning but the combat was fun and the DLC Minerva Den i thought was fantastic. I do think its the worse of the three games but still a good game.
Good to hear, thank you.

I know, but I keep hearing bad things about B2 :(

I don't get all the hate for BS2. It was a really good game on its own right, the combat is easily the best in the series. It is a little slow to get going and linear, like mentioned, however I really enjoyed the last half or so of the game. Like I said earlier, I did just play it this past year, I could see people that played it at release being jaded by a sense of déjà vu from BS1. I really liked it, I also bought Minerva's Den a couple weeks ago when it was on sale, but have yet to play it. BS2 can be found for under $10 now too

Bioshock 2 was awesome. Already posted my opinion of it earlier in this thread, but I ended up enjoying way more than the first. Super recommendation right there. Especially since it's so cheap. 2K Marin did an amazing job on the game and the linear levels still retain a ton of exploration in and of themselves. I never felt like the game was less Bioshock the second time around. Plus you got to walk around underwater. That was pretty sweet, and the MP is fun for a quick dip if you find anyone to play with.

As someone who couldn't make himself finish Bioshock 1 or 2, I totally enjoyed Infinite. Shooting got a little repetitive and I never bothered to listen to the tapes besides the first few. but everything else I quite enjoyed.

@sharkboy1200

Nice to hear someone enjoyed BS2 as much as me. The combat in it was so much fun. I loved setting turrets/calling in sentries, hypnotizing Big Daddies/splicers and having them all fight when the Big Sisters would show up.

Well, I've played a couple hours, and I'm getting into it. I've been enjoying the mix of exploration and combat. I'm playing it slowly, like I would an RPG. The world seems pretty immersive so far. I've reached Monument Island and I suppose I'm about to meet Elizabeth, which I'm looking forward to.

My only gripe (minor) was that there was a long time between two of the early save points, and I thought for a while that might be the way it played throughout, which would've bothered me. However, it was probably because I was moving so slowly through the level, exploring every nook and cranny. Since I have picked up the pace a little, I haven't had a problem with save point distances.

Yeah that was something I had issue with too. There were some places that I'd wished the saves were a little closer together, seemed like I was playing a good portion of the lvl over again.

Infinite was a great game with some truly memorable moments. Though I don't think the setting beats out an underwater city dominated by the philosophies of Ayn Rand, it was still something special. The soundtrack was great as well. The gameplay seemed to be relatively standard Bioshock fare at this point. That isn't bad, just not surprising.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming DLC that sends us back to Rapture.

Storyline as a whole is good, but I really do not like the ending. The more I think about it, the more it seems like a cheap way to develop sequels. But the technics of storytelling is the worst part. Key informations are hidden in a form of voice record, which makes it really hard to understand endgame plots.

Other than that, no way is it a bad game. It is memorable, it is fun. But at least the script and direction are flawed.

I liked it. Columbia is a pretty and colorful place to visit, I liked the art and lighting a lot. I liked the game as a whole, definitely worth a play.

It's also worth a play-through just to listen to Rosalind Lutece's audio diary entries.

"When I was a girl, I dreamt of standing in a room looking at a girl who was and was not myself, who stood looking at another girl, who also was and was not myself. My mother took this for a nightmare. I saw it as the beginning of a career in physics."
